Does anybody here own one? What is your experience with it? We just bought one from Sears.

While I am probably the only one but I hate it. I can not get comfy on it and I wake up with every move my spouse makes. DH loves it but he also loves the mattress his parents have in the guest room that is hard as a rock and coins can bounce off of it:rotfl:.

That's interesting. I know there are many different levels of firmness with the posturepedic. And, to me, the one we bought may end up being too soft. It's the one with the pillowtop look. Is that the one you have?

We didn't get the pillow top as the mattress salesman said they were having issues with them breaking down too fast. This thing just makes me ache when I wake up as it is very firm.

First, is it still in a trial grace period???
The pillowtop may be too much for you.
Especially with the memory foam that they use these days.
It is for me.

Okay, just by saying Sealy Posturepedic, there are SO many types and configuration of mattresses that there is just NO way to tell....

When you say Sears, then that makes me wonder of you really got the best of the best.

Our Sealy is the absolute top of the line, the best grade/category.
The 'Signature' line.
It is NOT the pillowtop (yes, would be too soft for me too)
It has the highest quality innerspring system and materials.
It is the 'Greenhurst' that you can see at USMattress website.
www.us-mattress.com/sealy-greenhurst-firm-queen.html
The pattern that the top of the mattress is covered with is an indicator of which 'grade/category'. If the fabric on yours looks like the GreenHurst, then you should (note: SHOULD) have a quality mattress.

Unless they have changed the fabric covers recently....

We have had ours a while, and it is a very good mattress.
The top of the line Sealy mattresses should be a good product.

We had bought a topper to put on ours when we ordered it, as it is a 'firm' and not a pillowtop.
We got rid of it.
Didn't need it.
It was high quality memory foam, and once we sunk down into it, it was WAY too soft. Like sinking down into a saggy mattress or one that had developed body-indentation.

Been sleeping on this mattress with no topper for over a year now... :thumbsup2

The pillowtop may be too much for you.
And, the memory foam that they use these days is NOT what I need.

A firm mattress, with maybe a thin old-fashoned latex foam, if necessary. (check out absolute comfort online for toppers)

Hope this helps!

Not even sure if there is a non-Posturepedic Sealy. It's like asking if you like Mercedes Benz as if the Benz is the model of Mercedes.

I have a Sealy Posturepedic. Worst POS bed I've ever slept on, unless you like feeling every spring in the thing digging into you. I wake up every morning and can barely get out of bed with the aches. I sleep about 4 hours. The longer I sleep, the worse I feel. Weekends I feel like crap because I don't have an alarm waking me up at 4:30 in the morning.

Spent a week at Pop Century. As crummy as the room was, I hadn't gotten that good of sleep since 2002 which is the last time I traveled and had a decent bed to sleep in.

Good brand.

But as others have noted, the model and your preferences are more important. A good match is more important than the brand.

Ours is 11 years old, was about two hairs softer than a concrete garage floor when brand new, softer mattresses give my wife and I backaches. Despite getting turned over top to bottom, and head to foot on a regular basis, it has developed indentations where we sleep, and a ridge in the middle where we don't. Stayed at a hotel with a very nice pillow top, on top over a very very very firm matterss. may go that route next.

We have the pillow top, have had it for several years and it is still as comfortable today as when we first bought it. My husband who has had 2 back surgeries, finds it very comfortable. Has been a good mattress for us.

We have two - non-pillow top, just the firmest mattress they make. The guy in the shop said the only thing firmer would be sleeping on the floor :rotfl: We bought one for our last house, but we wanted a slightly bigger bed when we moved, so we have our "old" (less than a year ) one in the guest room and a slightly bigger identical one in our room.

We bought a Simmons Beautyrest about 8 years ago. It has a 20 year warranty and wasn't supposed to have an indentation in the pillow top of more than 1 1/2". Well it's looking like it's about 3" now. We're going to call the furniture store where we bought it and see if we can get it replaced under the warranty. If not I already looked at some of the tempurpedic type beds - I guess one of the draw backs is that they hold in your body heat and will feel really warm :confused3

I'm thinking if we can't get this one replaced under warranty I'll just buy a good standard mattress and put a pillow top on it.

I want the bed that Hampton Inns have... so comfy to me. I can't seem to figure out a config that doesn't kill me with what I have now.:confused3

We bought this one...

Okay, I took a look, and YEP, sure enough, the cover that Sears has on the top of this mattress is NOT a cover that would indicate that this mattress is a Sealy 'Signature' (their top quality) line of mattress.

Sears has had this covered in a non-identifiable 'sears cool-max' fabric.

That is why, in my earlier post, I immediately mentioned that if you are buying from Sears, you have NO way to know the quality that you are getting.
Just to be honest, I do not trust sears.

As I had mentioned, I went thru this whole process a year ago when we bought our new mattress. I did a LOT of research and consideration. I feel like I am kind of a pro-bono mattress sales associate expert.....

Here are my thoughts....
1. Yes, Sealy 'Signature' mattresses are a very good quality product.

2. Go to a Sealy bed store (surely there is one in your area somewhere) and look at bona-fide Sealy mattresses. Learn what each line/grade of mattress actually gives you.

Then, you can also go to usmattress online and look around. This is a very good informative website.

3. IMHO, I would not recommend the pillow tops. The memory foams inside WILL leave body indentations with a higher area in the middle. Even if they are good, over time, this will happen. A FIRM, NON-PILLOW TOP MATTRESS ALLOWS YOU TO ADD A LATEX MATTRESS PAD IF YOU DESIRE, WHICH CAN EASILY BE REPLACED WITH NEW ONES OVER TIME AS NEEDED... As far as I can tell, the pillow-tops on mattresses are an integral part of the mattress that can not simply be replaced.

This way, you can get the particular type of mattress cover for your preferences, so that you are :cloud9:

The absolute comfort website is also an excellent and informative website. They offer the highest quality mattress pads, both memory and latex, that you will probably not find in your local stores.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

First, I never said that there was a non-posturepedic Sealy.
Quite the opposite.
What I, and others, are saying is "Just because it says 'Sealy' does not mean that you are getting a great top-of-the-line mattress. Yours may well have been some 'contracted' product, like the ones Sears is selling.

Same goes for all the other mattress names.
They make, and or let their name be on, a full range of products, from POS to top-of-the-line.

The message here is NOT 'avoid Sealy'

The message here is 'KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING' ;)
