Has anyone else seen this movie?

I didnt really want to see this but DH did so we went. I am SO glad he talked me into it!

this is a GREAT movie!! Very inspirational and worth the time.

Anyone else love it?

Thanks for the quick review! I was waivering back and forth if it would be worth it on the big screen. Any other reviews?

jap, I can tell you that Im not a big Horse race fan but I couldnt help but fall in love with the whole thing.

The only problem I had with it was the begining was a little choppy, the story a bit hard to follow, but after the first 15 minutes or so when they established the characters, it got much better!

I grew up in Louisville, KY, home of the Kentucky Derby, and have been a fan of racehorses all my life.

I read Laura Hillenbrand's best selling book, on which the movie is based. It is great, and I would strongly recommend it to you, binny, if you liked the movie.

I am dying to see the movie. I like Tobey Macguire and Jeff Bridges. I'm a bit leery of William H. Macy's character, Tick Tock Mclaughlin -- he's fictitious, and not in the book. But I hear the race sequences, choreographed by Hall of Fame jockey Chris Macarron are truly thrilling . . .

By far the best movie of the summer, makes Pirates look bad!

What a great movie! Seabiscuit is my candidate for best picture out of all of those I have seen so far this year. The audience I saw it with was actually applauding and cheering for the horse during a couple of the races.

Its really not about racing. The film is all about second chances, both learnig to give and accept them. You just feel good after seeing this picture.

Deb: Macy's character is just there to add a little levity and to provide transitions from one scene to the other. The character is a lot of fun and does not detract from the movie in any way.

Macys character is a HOOT! Im not a big fan of his but I really liked him in this movie.. very funny! :)

The other jockey that is featured in the movie is from Boise and they've made a big deal out of it. Gary was here promoting so we had a lot of hoopla surrounding it here.

I have to agree with Hound this gets my vote for best movie of the year!!

I loved it too.......
I agree Binny about it being a bit choppy at the outset, but a GREAT movie.
Jap--Definitely worth seeing on the big screen too, particularly the drama of the race scenes and a few of the others... I think it would lose a little bit of the impact on a little screen.

I don't go to movies very often, I'm so glad I saw this one though!!

I really want to see this movie. Can someone who's seen it tell me why it has a PG-13 rating? I'd like to take my 10 year old DS with me (he's interested in seeing it too.) If it's just for language, I'll live with it, but I wondered what else might incur the rating?
He's seen PG-13's before, mostly the superhero variety like Spiderman, X-Men 1 & 2, Daredevil, Hulk, etc. (some of which I thought should have been rated R!), but I'd like to know what I'm getting him into.

Thanks for any input you can give.

I think it got a PG13 for language, but I honestly think the movie is just fine for kids. In fact, it offers some great life lessons.

I hopnestly have no idea why it was PG-13.

there is no violence, very little sex, a few cuss words ( ok maybe more than a few but certainly not like most movies anymore) I really have no idea why???

Can anyone remember anything Im not?

Upon reflection, I'm guessing it was the drinking. A few characters get very drunk early on in the film. There were also some fairly violent boxing scenes early on as well. None of this is glorified. It is meant to show you just how hard the lifes of these people were.

ROFL!

Im sorry but that site was above and beyond!! Im a Christian, I would never go as far as they did though
ROFL about the "p*rn Pictures"!! Im assuming they were reffering to the ones in the background at Tick Tocks raido booth? LOL now THAT was racy! ;) ( If Im missing something else I apologize)

Here is another review http://www.family.org/pplace/pi/films/A0027049.html

ok yes there were 36 instances of cusswords  yes there was drunkeness, the violence that was shown was NOT gratuitous at all Hound was right, it was just to show how rough these people had it.

THe site I posted talks about the swearing too, I guess given what else is out there, it just didnt affect me as much. Sad but true. :(

Thanks for all the input on the PG-13 rating. I think DS10 will be just fine. I think we'll go see it one afternoon this week.

I can't wait to see the movie! I hope I'm not disappointed, I usually don't like movies based on a book, once I've read the book.

I absolutely loved this move! I'm reading the book now. I try to see movies before I read the books so I can enjoy both... there is much more in the book than in the movie. The movie is absolutely beautiful, I laughed, cried, was excited, and even clapped in parts.

I have been hearing people just rave about this movie and normally I would be anxious to see it but there's just one problem . . . . . . I absolutely cannot stand Toby Maguire! I don't know what it is about him but he just really irritates me. (Having said that, I will probably end up renting the movie when it is released on DVD.)

I watched a documentary about Seabiscut in April and fell in love with it then, When I realized there was a book and movie out .....I will be getting the book soon.then the movie, but I'll probably cave in and see the movie first.
