What do you suggest for DD 2-1/2yr and DS 16 mo at Sea World?

What is not to miss?
What is too much for young kids?
Which are the good shows?

Thanks.

We took our DD to Seaworld last year - she was 18 months old and loved it. Seaworld (from what I could tell) has mainly shows and viewing areas to see different animals - dolphins, turtles, etc. We went to quite a few shows, but the ones that were the most memorable were the Shamu show and the show with cats and dogs, which was very cute and extremely funny - not to be missed. As far as I recall there were only a couple of rides, which were more geared towards grownups anyway. You kids should have a lot of fun at Seaworld!

Have a good time!!!

Our 7 month old didn't really have much fun at Sea World. At that point in the vacation he had probably had enough of the theme park experience and the Florida heat, but the Clyde and Seamore show just pushed him over the edge. This Sea Lion show is a pretty broad comedy, but there's lots of surpising noises and yelling over microphones by pirates (trainers) which just didn't go over well. We lasted only about 2 minutes into the show before having to excuse ourselves. We opted not to see any other big shows that day since even sudden applause by the audience sent a wave of terror through him. Normally he would be more resilient, but it just wasn't his day I guess.

Our last item of the day was seeing the manatee exhibit, which we thought would be quiet and calm. Well, they had some bird trainers from the Blue Horizons dolphin show practicing flying their parrot back and forth through the interior of the viewing area. Our son liked watching the colorful bird fly back and forth, but then the parrot flew relatively close and gave him a loud and suprising shriek. That was it for him. He was in tears with his head buried in my shoulder. Time to go home for the day.

We'll try again on another trip. I know with another year or so under his belt, he'll love it.

I should add that although my son didn't have the best day, I think that the age of your kids should be fine for just about any of teh live shows there. I didn't see much this time, but from previous visits to Orlando and San Diego the shows should be fun for all. The rides will both have height limits so they'll be out for the kids, but there's a large childrens playground by Shamu Stadium that should be lots of fun too and good for running around if they get tired of sitting still in stadium seats.

Thanks for asking this -I am taking my 2-1/2yr DD to Sea World too!

The playground behind Shamu stadium will be a hit. Bring a change of cloths because the kids can get wet. There is a pirate ship with water around it, and kids can shoot squirt guns. There is a huge ball crawl with cargo nets. Underneath the nets is another playground for smaller kids. They could spend a few hours here if you let them.

I wouldn't worry about whether your kids will have a good time or not. Some kids are cranky. Others will throw a fit as a way to control their parents. Little kids at that age have no idea how much work is involved with going on these trips. And most won't even remember going a few years later. So have a good time and don't worry about it.

By the afternoon, most kids become cranky, and fall asleep in their stroller.
You could probably walk thru a few more attractions, like the polar bear exhibit, then leave.
