How big is the lake area around the beach club? Last year when we rented the sea racers at the GF we loved taking them out and riding all over the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. I know (thanks to all of you) that the beach club also rents these boats. I guess my question is are they as fast as the ones at GF and is there a lot of lake to ride them in?

My DD7 and DS5 really enjoyed the boats, it sort of kicked off our vacation last year and we would like to take them out again this year.

Here is a good view. The thing I like about this map is you can click on "Bird's Eye" and see everything from the 4 cardinal directions.

It is not as big as 7 seas and Bay lake, but it looks like it has more places to explore. More small canals to drive around and some bridges to go under. Somehow I doubt you are allowed inside EPCOT or even going around it via the canals. But it does seem like you can go around the Dolphin and Swan. I'm curious to hear from others.

After boating on the Sevens Seas Lagoon and Bay lake, boating on Cresent lake was a slight disapointment. Sea racers travel slower due to the amount freindship boats, docs, and no wake zones in the area; especially with two people.

If you rent it at the Yacht Club, you have full access to Cresent lake, under the bridge into the front half (where the dock is) of the Dolphin, under a bridge and into the canal that lines the walkway to DHS/Boardwalk Villas. That map makes it appear a lot larger than it truly is.

When we rented from the GF it was amazing! The boats traveled at a great speed and there was plently of room to roam around and explore. Once we got out to Bay Lake you could really feel that speed! We didn't get this feeling boating on Cresent lake :guilty:

Edited to add...
We felt like boating on SSL and BL gave us glimpses of sights and sounds we normally don't get to see when staying at those resorts. We loved cruising by the old River Country and Discovery Island. When boating on Cresent Lake, your getting the same sights and sounds as you would walking to MGM.

I was just coming on the board to ask some questions about these.. hope you guys can help me out! Are the sea racers the little one/two people boats at Poly/CR/GF? How do I reserve them for my trip? How old do you have to be to operate your own? It's been since the mid 80's when I was a teen that I went on them. What is the cost/length of rental time for them? I know these are a bunch of questions but any help would be so appreciated! :)

Searacers are 2-person 'water sprites' with a max weight of I believe 300lbs. Yes, you've most likely seen these boats available at the MK are resorts, the moderate resorts, DTD, and in the Epcot area. The boats are easy to operate and can go forwards and reverse.

Select resorts have Marinas where you can rent these boats. It's first come first serve but I've never seen a Marina "sell out" of these boats. Poly, Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Fort Wilderness, and Wilderness Lodge Marinas will give you access to the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. Other resorts that have Marina's are: Yacht Club, Port Orleans Riverside, Coronado Springs, Carribbean Beach, and Downtown Disney.

I'm not exactly sure how old you have to be; I've read different reports! I've read over 12 and I've read over 16.

You can rent the boat for any length of time, but the usuals are 30, 45, 60, or 90mins. They're are given prices for the time limit you choose and depending on the body of water you'll be driving on. When we rented from the GF it was $80, but that was for two boats for an hour.

Thank you! You are my Disney Angel for responding so quickly! I had a "mental game plan" to to the Lilo and Stitch breakfast at the Poly and then go on the sea racers then hop the monorail to MK for the rest of the day. Seems like if I go earlier in the day I will have a better chance or at least be able to get an idea of when they will have one available for the day. The $80 for two boats for an hour was about what I was figuring. It's going to be me, DD 14 and DS12. I was hoping DD could drive her own boat and then worst case is that DS could come with me. I would LOVE for us to get our own boats but I guess we'll have to see the age limits. It's been so long for me that I don't recall and after 20+ years I'm guessing the rules have gotten stricter! :goodvibes
