DD takes Dramamine and she says it doesnt really help her when she goes on rides...so was thinking about trying Bonine and/or the bands...:)

I used SeaBands last year on the flight to/from Disney. On the way there, I was 'okay' unless I would look down. I also took dramamine. On the way home, I just wore SeaBands but slept the whole time, and was fine during the plane ascending/decending. Give them a try, they can't hurt. I just found ginger gum and and all natural oil at my local Walgreens. Gonna try the ginger gum (which is excellent for upset stomachs) on the plane and the oil, you put behind your ears, gonna try this out for the first time too! Good luck!

There is also a miracle all-natural pill that we call 'the green pills.' They are made by a company called Shaklee. I was introduced to them by DP's mother, who is very holistic and only takes all natural medicines and uses all natural remedies. They are made up of ginger, anise, and peppermint, they work WONDERS! :)

Although there is truth to some of that pressure point stuff (and its limited effects) I doubt these things work.

And it pisses me off that they're trying to say they'll stop chemo-induced nausea. How dare they?!

If they want to con travelers, that's fine with me. They can team up with Airborne people and create a Travel Package and I'll say, "Whatever."

But when they go after desperate, vulnerable people suffering through chemo, I have to say they're *******s. And I hope they get what is coming to them.

I hope that when they have cancer and are vomiting, someone will give them a Sea Band instead of IV Zofran.

Please don't give them money.

No they did not work. Not even a little. I used ginger pills, sea-bands and Motion Eaze (the all natural oil you dab behind your ear). None of it worked, even remotely. I thought I was going to die.

The only thing that works for me (and that I will EVER use) is the prescription patch (Transdermal-Scop). The scopolamine patch is a bit smaller than a dime and goes behind your ear. You change it every 3 days. I have never suffered drowsiness (and I am susceptible to side effects of every drug). If you put the patch on at night the night before youleave, you should be fine if you tend to get drowsy from things like dramamine.

You DO need to take care not to touch your face or eyes after handling the patch as it can cause farsightedness (temporary). Things up close to you (menus, computer screens) will be blurry. I found that putting a band aid over top of the patch kept me from accidentally touching it or from rubbing the patch on my pillow at night and then accidentally getting my face on that part of the pillow.

They may or may not work depending on how severe her motion sickness is. They do not work for my son. He needs dramamine for a flight and a car ride depedning. It is accupressure and I believe it just depends on the person and I don't think it would ever work on something severe. If dramamine doesn't work, you could try bonine. The ginger and such is for treatment of nausea (which is the prime symptom of motion sickness), but I would try to prevent the motion sickness first. There are also other forms, if otc doesn't work, call the pedi and they will be able to give you some options.

Sea Bands did absolutely nothing for me. Less Drowsy Dramamine (same as bonine) works much better. Ginger pills help a little bit.

I use Sea Bands and they work a good deal of the time (school bus & car rides, roller coasters, boats), but the one time they didn't work for me was on Expedition Everest. I didn't actually vomit, but I was extremely nauseous the rest of the day/night.

I agree. The patch works great-and can get me through any ride. The only thing I don’t like about the patch is that it gives me severe dry mouth and throat.

I’ve never tried the wrist bands, because I am skeptical about whether or not they would work…and I don’t want to risk it, because once I get motion sick, I am miserable the rest of the day.

I like Bonine which doesn’t really give me any side effects or drowsiness. It works great for me on airplanes, milder rides and all of the mountains. However, some of the more turbulent rides like Star Tours and rides that go around in a circle, including carousels & Dumbo still get to me.

I would recommend Bonine if your daughter is willing to avoid turbulent and spinning rides, or the patch if she wants to ride everything.

Sea Bands and ginger (capsules) didn't do a thing for me. Dramamine works, but caused drowsiness, so wasn't great for use in the parks. Bonine worked as well as the dramamine, and seemed to be side-effect free (for me). The transderm-scop patch also worked, but I had to stop it after a day and a half because of the side effects. They were as bad as the motion sickness.

I am assuming your DD is an adult. If so, then I would suggest she try the Bonine first. If that doesn't work, then she could try the patch. Be very careful about reading the information about side effects and contraindications though.

If she is still a child, then I would not give her anything without consulting your family physician or pediatrician first.

I hope she (and you) has a wonderful vacation.

I think I'm going to ask my ENT for this before we go. I have Meniere's-like and I don't mind flying, if I use Zyrtec regularly along with Nasal spray prior to flight. Rides would be a different thing. I had a friend cut the patches in half, have you ever done that??

Today she is going to Six Flags and she took Bonine (usually Dramanine) trying this brand today and the band...I guess I will find out today if this helps LOL if so were set for Disney, otherwise I will call her doc :goodvibes DD is 16 thanks everyone for your input

I use sea bands all the time when I cruise and I love them. We have been in rough seas and they work. They also work fairly quick if you get queasy before putting them on.

I also recommend drinking gingerale.

This is exactly what I use and swear by it. The only side effect I have is a couple hours into the patch, I get dry mouth and then it's over a few hours later. yes, it's good for 3 days. Then you can put on another one.

She wore the Bands and took Bonine .....didnt help!!!!!!! Someone told me to call her pediatrician and maybe she can get prescribed a prescription for our upcoming trip
