I don't know if this is the place to post this but I just wanted to find out if anyone else out there is planning on attending SDV (Scrappers Dream Vacation) this year. :thumbsup2 It's a little later this year 9/6 - 9/9 but back at the Contemporary, which is good thing. We stayed there about a month a go for the Disney Marathon, they have remodeled and the rooms are BEAUTTIFUL!! :cool1:

It might seem a little early but my girlfriends and I are registering !!

Hope to hear from anyone else coming soon!!

Angie:banana:

I know it stinks that it is so late, when I went to my first SDV about 5 years a go, it was in early August, it has slowly worked it's way later. Of course back then it was at a nasty Holiday Inn on IDrive instead of at the Contemporary !! :thumbsup2

It's the same thing for 2009 too. The first day of school is the last Wed in Aug and SDV starts that Thurs. HMMM I wonder if there is any way to convince Nancy and Dale to move it?!?

I took my mom to the one in 2005 and DH and I went last year. We had so much fun!!! We are hoping to go again in 2008.

Hi Angie! I plan to be there. It would be cool for the DIS scrappers to meet up!
Sorry you can't come Buffy :guilty:
I'm actually glad it's later this year. Last year it was on my birthday weekend, which was fine, but this way I get to have a birthday celebration at home with family and friends and also go to Convention! My friend and I are planning on Friday - Sunday :yay:

I had to skip last year due to staffing problems at my store...but I'm definately going this year...already paid for it with last years refund when I had to cancel.

It's going to be awesome. This has become such a tradition for me and my friends. The last couple of years it has literally been the only weekend that I get to scrapbook, which makes me so sad. I love nothing more than to create wonderful pages of my children (which they awe over when i get home - 2 boys at that) and think of all of the wonderful memories while i do it.

But the full time engineering classes and 2 boys ( oh and the monthly to semi-monthly day trips to disney) have kept me more than busy.

But 3 months from tomorrow I finally graduate  and I will be able to spend more time with my family again and more time scrapbooking those wonderful memories. :cool1:

We should all meet up!!

Angie

I've never been to one of these. Will you tell us 'newbies' a little about it?

I WOULD BE GLAD TO!!!

TO ME AND MY FRIENDS IT IS HEAVEN, A GIRL'S WEEKEND SPENT SCRAPPING OUR PRECIOUS FAMILY MEMORIES.:cool1:

Basically it is a weekend, this year at Disney's Contemporary resort, where you can decide to stay 1 to 3 nights, and crop the entire time, that's right 24 hours a day if you chose. There are ballrooms set up with tables where you set up your stuff the whole weekend, and you can leave it there. I have been for 5 years, and no one has EVER touched our stuff!! But we take breaks and lay by the pool and also spend some mommy or wife or just me time!!

Check out the web-site:

If you find some friends to split the cost with it's not so bad, and it is so well worth it. There are lots of vendors there, and classes, and lot's of fun!!

If you have any more questions, please ask.
And maybe if people need someone to room with, maybe we could use this site to arrange that.

As I said earlier, the Contemporary has recently remodeled and it is very nice!!

Happy Scrapping!!!!

Finding someone on these boards to share a room might be a good option. I'm hoping my friend can go with me like last year, but they're moving into a new house next month so money will be tight. We may need to start a "who needs a roommate at SDV" thread for folks who cannot find someone to go with to keep costs lower. :goodvibes

I go to the ones in New Jersey every year :) It's a great time and for the last couple of years the only time in the year when I can actually get lots of LOs done - I start preparing for it way in advance AND spend time with great friends AND do the spa thing since they have a Red Door Spa in the hotel at Absecon :cool1:.

I'll be going in a week & 4 days, yep, I'm counting the days :lmao:

I tried talking my DH into the one in WDW BUT, he just laughed - "I can't imagine you inside scrapbooking when you could be at the parks!" Unfortunately, he's right - I'd rather be in the parks than scrapbooking but we don't get to the parks as often as some of you from FL do.....

It's definitely worth the money but that's my .02!

don't forget that Dream Events also has their own forum. Which includes a looking for roommate threads, swaps, etc.....

Thanks for telling us that I did not know that !!:goodvibes

momto2dds Every year I see people who ship all of their stuff down here and I don't know how they do it. And your right, if we weren't blessed enough to go to parks all the time, I could never stay inside and scrap there. I will be counting down the days when we get closer too. The past couple of years it is the only time i get to crop, but after my graduation in May, hopefully that will change!!

I ship all my tools down. It's easier than dealing with security.
A bit of a warning though. One of the teachers at my LSS packed her tools in her checked luggage and when she arrived at her crop her brand new pair of cutter bees scissors were gone replaced with a TSA note saying they were confiscated do to being banned material, aka pointy scissors. How she could have crawled into the belly of the plane, found her bag, gotten into the cabin and stabbed someone is beyond me.

You can fed ex to any facility and if you have a fed ex account you can ship stuff back.

Well you know Buffy, she could be one of the X-Men and be able to walk through walls!!!! You just never know!!!! :lmao:

Who all went this year. I still have not put my stuff away.
The swaps this year were awesome.

Hey Tracy!!! I've been reading the mail from the Yahoo group. Sounds like everyone had a blast. I couldn't make it this year because the kids were already in school but a bunch of us are aiming for next year. I will probably be pestering the hound out of you for info on how to coordinate. I hope to see some pics soon of all the great stuff ya'll got!

Here's a link to the thread we started, it's pretty basic at this point but once I get more info, I'll add more.

I hope to see you there next year!!! I'm am already looking forward to going!

The trip was awesome. The World's largest scrapbook was in fact HUGE !!!
Some friends and me put our embellishments on it. We missed the taping from FOX station in Orlando but at least we got something on the pages.
Nancy looked awesome. She still has some treatments to go through, she even did a jello shooter with us. Dale was not in the room, he spent all his time with the youngest son Danny.
I need to get my butt in gear and post some pictures on the yahoo board.
Yes I would like to meet everyone next year.

Tracy
