Well, I did this last week and it was as awful as everyone had said. I mean, I was expecting bad, but I couldn't believe how terrible it was. I would have been scared if I had had children with me. A man twice my size body checked me and then yelled at me for it.
I was literally at the front of the group in HS and by the time we hit the arch, I was 4 rows back and kept getting thrown further back. It was awful.
After I got out of TSL, SDD's line was backed up to the little mermaid theater(I am not kidding). I heard a CM tell another that they needed to open up at 8 for EMH to prevent "the madness."

Good grief... seems like some people these days have no sort of manners and get angry very easily.

I do wish Disney would come up with a better plan when it comes to rope dropping a lot of popular attractions such as SDD.

Did it this morning with a stroller. Grown men without kids running past me up along the planter ledges and jumping down right in front of me! My stroller hit his feet when he jumped down from the ledge and someone else called me rude!! Crazyness.

Amazing what a better RD experience all other parks are.

If it’s this bad now with toy story landing just think what RD will look like for opening day of SWGE! You couldn’t pay me to RD HS on that day.

They're gonna need these guys...

I've RD''d SDD twice.
No issue at all. (I'm visually impaired so if anyone is gonna get ran into or fall it would be me and it wasn't so yeah I clearly do not feel unsafe)

I honestly believe a handful of bad apples makes the entire experience worse. You get a couple of people or groups of people who want to run in to people, run through the crowd, etc and it seems to cause a ripple effect and others do the same. It sounds like that definitely happened to you. We have done RD for other rides (7DMT, TSM, TT) and have had mixed experiences. Mostly good, but occasionally crazy. We are going the last week of March and could not get a SDD FP. I am hoping one will open up at some point between now and then. If not, we will attempt rope drop. But, I expect that without running in to people and such, I will likely have a wait. Hopefully not as long as those arriving after RD, but who knows.

Wow, glad we are heading in a different direction next week when we RD DHS. We have a SDD fastpass for later that day.

I actually think opening day might be OK. Definitely overwhelmingly crowded, but I think Disney will commit the resources to control the crowd in those opening days. The problem will come some time later when they quietly cut back on staff to get by for less. Then it will be pure pandemonium.

Ironically we booked the first week in September and planned to do EMM on that Wednesday since we have small children specifically to avoid this... so much for that!

That’s rough. Hopefully disney will have a good plan in place to handle the crowds.

I sure hope they have a plan! While I have not yet experienced SD at RP (or at all yet because it wasn't open the last time we were there), I have experienced Pandora at RD. CMs kept telling people not to run, yet they ran. We weren't headed to FoP due to having a fastpass later but we were headed to Na'vi so we witnessed the crazy. They have to figure out a way to stop the running; especially because of all the young kids around. In my opinion, adults look ridiculous running towards a ride, especially when pushing a stroller.

Sounds like when we were there a few weeks ago . I did email WDW about my concerns about how RD was handled at DHS .I think if enough people email them, maybe things might change a little. They should not be letting people merge from those other 2 side streets, that's when the chaos and running get really bad

So its gotten even worse. When we got done with SDD, AS2 and TSMM, the line was back to the entrance of TSL. I thought that was bad. Not even close to the day you were there.
I enjoy SDD, but its not that good.
