hey everybody

i got my dad scuba diving lessons for his birthday. but he thinks it might be a little too expensive. i was wondering if anybody had gone scuba diving on any islands and if so was it worth it. also i was wondering if you had to be certified or if you could just go.

thatnks in advance for any scuba diving info you can provide

My understanding, and I'm not yet a diver but looking into it for myself for our upcoming Southern Caribbean cruise, is that yes, you need to be certified. Dives are based on abillity level or certification. Can someone help explain that part?

There are a few cruiselines/excursion vendors that offer 1st-timer scuba, where they give you a lesson and you make a shallow dive, but my understanding is a lot of the time spent, obviously, is on the preparation and little on the actual dive.

I'm sure somebody else can give us better details Pgnboy.
Anybody?:)

To do any of the scuba diving excursion you have to be a certified diver, and will need to present your certification, my husband dove with Disney, and they made a copy of his PADI certification.
