Scuba Divers

Calling all divers. My son and I are discussing the idea of diving in the Living Seas Aquarium during our trip in July. Is the dive worth the cost and time? I personally think diving in such clear water with so many kinds of fish and mammals around would be quite the experience, so we probably will do it. I am hoping for some responses from those who have done the dive.

I saw 3 guys, late teens early 20's with their dad, get out of the diving tank, buy the dolphins. They all came out with smiles and they stood around and talked to the people that watched them in the tanks. I think it is well worth it.

Edit-There is an entrance to the tank, over by the dolphins. area. Right in the middle of the room. I didn't know about not swimming with dolphins.

DH did this some years back and it has been a highlight of our Disney trips for him!

I know that he has said that he would recommend this dive to anyone and that it was well worth the money spent to do so.

I did DiveQuest a couple years ago...

It takes about 4 hours, includes a lecture about the facility itself, a brief tour, a t-shirt, and then the dive. The shark had been removed from the tank the week before due to sickness, but the rest of the marine life was pretty neat. My favorite was scaring diners at the Coral Reef

I thought it was great to do once in awhile. I wouldn't do it every year, but for a one time (or every few years) it was great. If you have a PADI card (or other things) you can get a discount off the rate.

My Dh does this every trip. I LOVES it! He doesn't really get to dive anywhere else though so it is a real treat to him.

You do not get to dive with the dolphins during Dive Quest. Dh is told on almost every dive that they don't dive with them because they are very territorial.

I am trying to think what other mammals are in there. Maybe I am having a duh moment....

I did the dive last September. It was a great experience. The total dive time was about 45 minutes. No mammals that you dive with. You have to maintain a strict distance from the dolphins. There were several sharks, rays and sea turtles though. I reccomend the dive

Father and stepmother - 2 Dive Masters + Disney Dive Quest = "greatest dive we've ever done!!!!" In their opinion, if you are a diver and you are at Disney World and you don't do the dive, you are missing out on a lot.

My DH is doing this in a couple of weeks. From what I hear it's awesome. He's so excited about it.

After reading the posts I think we will do the dive at WDW. It sounds like a great time and I really enjoy the tours and learning how things operate. Thanks for the advice everyone.

My DD is scuba certified and is dying to do the dive. Problem, WDW says she has to be 17(she is 15) or have an adult accompany her. No one else traveling with us is certified. My daughter cried for a few hours after I broke the news to her (think emotional teen)

where did disney tell you that? when you tried to book it? according to http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/tourDetail?id=EpcotDiveQuestTourPage&bhcp=1 , a parent/guardian is only needed for those under 15 (10-14)

Yes, when we tried to book. I thought she only needed to be 13 and certified because that is what it says in 3 pamphlets we have, but when I tried to book they said (twice with two different agents) no. Not sure which is right or I should even try to fight it. Website says 15, pamphlets 13 but agents say 17. If any one out there would be diving on the 7th of September and would not mind a 15 year old certified diver with some experience signing up saying you are the adult in their party please let me know.
