Screen mirroring from iPhone to Samsung tv

Does anyone know if it is possible to “screen mirror“ from an iPhone 8 to one of the Samsung TVs in DVC room? When I brought up the different inputs for the TV, it says it’s a Samsung series 6. I tried using the screen mirroring feature on my iPhone and it wouldn’t discover the TV, plus I tried downloading a couple apps to screen mirror without success. Before responding, please recognize that I am a very technologically challenged person, so that may be part of the problem. I guess I had hoped to watch some movies on Disney+ while I’m here, but there’s no Disney+ app on the TV and I wasn’t able to project my phone onto the TV. Thanks in advance.

You may have already seen this YouTube video:

Some things to check for
1 is the tv connected to the WiFi network? You’ll have to go into tv settings
2 did you connect your iPhone to the WiFi network?

if both are connected to WiFi, hopefully this video will get you the rest of the way there.

I don’t think the tv was connected to the wifi network, and the menu button on the remote didn’t work.... I believe that’s where the problem was. Thanks for the reply!

Never tried the screen mirror. We have a lightning to HDMI adapter that we use for phone or ipad. Only thing with this is usually have to provide your own HDMI cord, and noted that the TV in the bedroom at BLT did not work, but was an older TV so maybe didnt recognize the input.

That looks great! We have an HDMI cable that we can bring on our next trip. I am definitely going to get one of these. I was hoping with Disney Plus being available, that would be an app on the TV, but there's not. Plus, the WiFi there kept going in and out

We use this too. I take adapter and cable on every trip (Disney or not). It works great! I usually download some movies to my phone before the trip as well. That way I don't have to rely on wifi. I have downloaded some from Disney+ as well. I love that option.

We bring our Amazon fire stick with us to our dvc stays. It works great to watch Disney+, Netflix etc. and connects to the in room wifi. They are only about $50 bucks on Amazon sometimes you can get them even cheaper.

I bring a Google Chromecast and a travel router. If I recall correctly, the Disney WiFi does not support per-to-per connection that screen cast/chromecast depends on (hence the travel router). As an added benefit, my travel router advertises the same wifi ESID as at home -- all my devices already know how to connect. Mind you, I do this kind of stuff for a living. YMMV.

We use the lightning/HDMI. Keeps us from forgetting the firestick in the back of the TV.

I use the Firestick at DVC also. There is a newer ''basic" model that does not have tv remote functions that retails for about $29. I got it on Black Friday for $18.

That’s a great deal!! We have a Samsung tv at home and since the dvc TVs are Samsung our fire stick remote works perfectly without have to program it at Disney. I also got a really cheap colored silicone remote cover because the battery cover would always slide off easily. It’s hot pink so it sticks out in the room and always reminds us to unplug the fire stick from the tv before we check out.

The firestick is a great idea. Thanks!!

To mirror from an IPhone, you need to have an Apple TV hooked up, then it mirrors through that.
