Last night, in bed, I rolled over and attacked my husband, scratching his cornea. :headache:

We spent most of the early morning, morning, and this afternoon at the urgent care facility. Apparently, I did a good job on him! ;).

He's got his drops and meds, and is now knocked out in bed. I'm off to work for the evening, but wondering what I can do to help him feel better when I get home!

Any soothing suggestions would be appreciated!

Scratched cornea? Ow, ow, OW!!! From personal experience, there's not really much you can do to make him feel better physically. Just apologize, fluff his pillows, make him his favorite dinner, and let him tell you what he'd like you to do (leave him alone to sleep, snuggle with him, etc). In a few days, he'll be all better, but it takes a while.

Oh, that hurts. I can feel his pain! I have had a scratched corea many times. It is no fun. The pain meds should help. Other than that he should stay in a dark room, and keep both eyes closed. If he tries using his good eye it will be painful in the bad eye. It should get better very soon.

One of the bad things about it is boredom! Maybe get him a book on CD to listen too since TV watching won't help. Get him something easy to eat. It is hard to eat with your eyes closed!

When I scratched my corneas that was one of the worst pains in my life, right up there with childbirth...especially when the ER doc had to shine a light into my eyes for the exam.

Simply excruciating.

agnes!

My DH did this the morning we were leaving for Disney back in 2009 - he wanted to wait till we got to Florida. I said no way, we are going to Urgent Care right then and there. I am glad we did as he was a hurting pup and had to put drops in his eye every hour on the hour. It lasted about 24 hours and then he was fine. I drove the whole way to Florida but that is just me also. I don't feel comfortable being in the passenger seat while he drives. Not much you can do. Hopefully after a day of meds he will feel better when you come home.
