Since there is no straight answer on weather or not sharing meals is allowed on the DDP, :confused3 I've completely redone my dining schedule to be all one credit meals, since that way I don't have to worry about usage of credits. The one exception will be Brown Derby, since we're doing Party for the Senses that night, which frees up two credits for one signature meal.

My choices for one credit meals are; (as of the moment,) Boma, Chef Mickey's, Le Cellier, Kona, Ohana, Akershus, Wolfgang Puck Cafe, and Coral Reef. (All are for dinner.) We'll also be eating at Crystal Palace OOP for breakfast one morning.

I absolutly have to include Boma, Le Cellier, and Wolfgang Puck Cafe, I keep on debating the rest. I want to do Chef Mickey's since a lot of people I personally know, (no ofense to anyone here,) have said I have to eat there. I enjoy both Ohana and Kona, but am not sure weather or not to book both of them since they're both at the Poly and have similar food. Though I really like Asian-type foods that they serve, and DM has been to neither. Akershus I really want to try again, the first-time, I didn't feel too great, and think that may have impaired my judgement on the food, and the service was so-so. The second time I ate there, (which was breakfast,) the food was decent, and I was going to make breakfast a must-do. . . until I found the potato recipe online, and made them 99% the same at home. So I've been there for breakfast and lunch, and now feel I should have dinner there. I do want to do at least one princess meal at Disney. And Ariel's there, (I know she's not guaranteed.) But, I was sunburned last time I saw Ariel there, (only time I saw her as a human,) and I don't look too good in the picture . . . I know, I have the wierdest logic behind some of my decisions. Then Coral Reef, I love the atmosphere at, though I know the food was just okay when I ate there the first time, I had great service and the dessert was to die for.

So as you can see, I have lots of reasons behind my logic. I was also considering several other restaurants; 1900 Park Fare, Concourse Steakhouse, Tony's Town Square, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Spoodles.

I have three weeks left until I make my ADRs, and I'm really not sure what I'm going to do. This would be a lot easier if Disney would be clear on weather or not sharing meals is allowed, or if DM wasn't insisting that she won't pay OOP for any meals.

Sharing is allowed. Last September my DH and I shared at AP. (I just couldnot face a huge uhnk of buffalo on my own!) I bought my own soup and beverage, and we shared the entree and dessert. No problem at all.

Why change your plans?:confused3 I've shared at Disney table service restaurants with and without DDP and it's been perfectly fine. I have health issues and personally could not eat all of that food on my own, don't usually eat at buffets, and hate the thought of wasting food. We book 2T restaurants because we enjoy them and so we use all our credits. Book where you would like to eat and enjoy!:tink:

I don't know why people would tell you that you can't or shouldn't share TS meals! It is perfectly acceptable to do so, as far as I know.

We have also shared meals lots of times and also get a pluto bag for any food that is left over.

Bicker posted this afternoon on another thread that Disney's official answer to the question of sharing is, "No." :confused3:confused3:confused3

Yep, and it's the same answer I got, too. DH and I often share meals when we go out so we can try more things and not be totally stuffed. Lots of folks -- like those who have posted on this thread -- said they've had no problem doing that, that the servers sometimes even had their meal plated on two plates for them before bringing it to the table. The CM who took our ADR's, our travel agent, Disney fan websites like this one, and even published guidebooks say it's ok to share meals, as long as everyone is on the DDP. But a couple of people were pretty adamant that sharing wasn't allowed, so I wrote to Guest Relations to get the answer straight from Disney. This is the email response I received:

"Guests on the dining plan and sitting at a table in a table service restaurant are not required to use their dining credits for the meal. Guests may pay for the meal at the time of dining.

If one Guest wishes to use a dining credit and the other Guest in the party wishes to order food and beverage and pay for it instead of using their dining credit, that is permitted. However, ordering one meal and sharing is not permitted with the dining plan."

There's a LOT more on the topic on this thread, if you are interested:

I just read that other thread...no wonder everybody is confused!

I think they are starting on a slippery slope to make different rules for DDP guest than for guests paying OOP. Kinda makes me glad I stay offsite and can't participate in DDP.

I read the DDP brochure and it does not say this. I read the other thread. Like I said, we shared a meal in Septembe at AP. That is my practical experience. Until someone at Disney is actually denied the ability to share a plate of food that they ordered, .....

That's what I'm worried about, trying to share a meal, and be denied. I just don't want to book lots of restaurants, not be able to share, run out of credits, and then either be forced to skip or pay OOP for meals later in my trip. So that's why I've decided to book all one-credit meals.

This is very frustrating, and I wouldn't of booked it, except I got free dining with the bounce-back promo they had in Dec, and it was too good a deal to pass up.

Maybe I'm too easy, but if it really is WDW's policy that guests can't share DDP meals then I'm going to have to rethink our strategy too. We'll be hosting my DM, DD, and DN and I wouldn't want anxiety or unpleasantness. To enjoy one 2 TS restaurant we'll just eat a couple CS meals OOP.

While the sharing of food choices among persons on the Disney Dining Plan may still be open to interpretation (Disney says "no" but many posters' experience is "yes"), the sharing of credits with people not on the DDP is not ambiguous in the least. It cannot be done. You can't order more meals on the DDP ticket than you have people in your party who paid for it. And sharing two meals among five people is likely NOT gonna work.

I wasn't going to share with non-DDP diners. Me and DM were going to share three, maybe four meals, just to fit in a few more restaurants.

Honestly, I would book where you orginally planned. I have not heard of anyone being told they couldn't share, and I'm not talking about using child's credits, ect., just sharing the adult credits. I will be there in June and if I have any problems sharing our credits, I promise I'll post!
