Scrapping w/ Park Brochures

Anybody know if the brochures are acid free?

Doubtful. But that's not gonna stop me from using them. I'm armed with scissors and Archival Mist (although I've never used it before.) I'll probably cut them up to use on pages but not on/over any photos. And of course I have a supply of page protectors so that the facing pages won't touch them either.

I doubt they are acid free, but you can just do a layout with the brochures with no pics, that way the acid doesn't travel to the pics. You can also make some pocket pages to put the brochures in.

I just tested an old (ratted and tattered and torn) brochure from last year and it tested ph neutral. If you don't have one, get a ph pen. Fiskars makes one (as do a few other companies) It is worth what you pay for it. Kind of hard to do on darker colored items, but still worth it for so many things.

Scan parts of the brochure into the computer and then print it on cardstock or vellum. Comes out pretty neat! The park map looks
really great this way!

I always save a complete set of park brochures from each of my trips and put togheter a pocket page with them by themselves (just in case!!!) --Not as much fun anymore since they changed the format and they dont have the dates across the tops and show times....

I just finished putting together a scrapbook of our first trip to WDW (over ten years ago). I took apart the original photo album & tried to save as much as possible. I had several pieces of paper from Disney brochures. I attached them to pieces of acid free, lignin free paper & then added them to my pages. The original pieces only touch acid free, lignin free paper.

Archival mist. Spray the front and back of your brochures and other items lightly with it. It is pricey but worth it and will last forever. My LSS just got it in the smaller cans. The test pen that catwho recommended is also worth having in your scrapping arsenal.

My scanner isn't good enough for scrapbooking, so I took my maps to Kinkos and made color copies on AF paper -- that way, I could make them whatever size I needed. When I use the originals, I do like several others suggested -- pull out the Archival Mist.
