January is booked so solid I can hardly breath but come February I have major plans to do some scrapping again.

The "big" trips that are fairly recent anyway are caught up. I now need to work on my kids' books but need some suggestions on ways to proceed. I'm wondering what you all have done.

Both kids have books that are devoted to their Scouting careers - they just sort of evolved that way. I have started a book for my son that is just football - he asked for it that way. Fine, that is "his" sport. My daughter's is horseback riding - would you follow that same practice do a separate book?

What about the rest of their photos? Son is a freshman in high school and I've only been scrapping a couple of years. Most of the photos are in the slip in sleeve albums so we can at least see them! Some of the baby pics are actually in the magnetic page books are REALLY need to come out.

I was thinking maybe dividing the books by school set...birth - preschool; elementary school; middle school; high school?

The same has to be done for my daughter but she is still in middle school so I have a little more time to get her's done. The big thing around here is to host an open house for high school graduation. And most folks either put out their scrapbooks or have some sort of photo array.

Then what about those "other" pics - the ones that are more family oriented? Holiday books? General books by year or group of years?

I've seen these done many ways and am wondering what some of you have done. Guess I'm also thinking WAYYYYY (I hope) down the line when they are split between the two kids to take to their own homes.

Thanks in advance for your ideas....
Deb

I have seven books going at once - one for each niece and nephew. We have been doing fun things together all their lives. The main books contain pictures from birth until the day I give them their book (hopefully their 18th birthdays). Some events have 3 or 4 pages, other pages have 2 or 3 events, depending on the amount of pictures, ticket stubs, etc. that we have. I focus mainly on the one person, making sure I include at least one group picture too.

However, I have scrapped special books for really special occasions like my niece Heather's five years of chemo party, a trip with two of them to Disney (so there were a total of three books that trip - I had to have one too). When we take three others to Disney next summer, they will each get an awesome souvenir too. Heather has also asked for help scrapping her senior year in HS.

One niece and nephew know that I am doing this and are so appreciative. They want to peek to see what I have done so far. I hope your children are as appreciative! Hope this helps.

I have a DD who is 14 and I have been scrapping for a few years. I started trying to do a book of all ages same themes but, have abandoned that book and now have her life to age 3 complete which I will continue (my goal is to have it to age 7 by the end of 2003), then I have our Disney book and Christmas book which I have current. I also want to do over my wedding album I have noticed the pictures are starting to yellow.

Good luck, I'm sure your children will appreciate any book you do for them.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies. Any other thoughts floating around out there?

I have 6 books going right now - one for each of our children that includes their birthdays and other special events, one "family" book which includes vacations and all other events that involve all of us, one Christmas book and one for our newborn niece.

My intention is to have each child's book done before graduation so that it can be displayed at their open house. It's more personal than the family and Christmas books. I'd also like to keep our niece's up to date and give it to her as a graduation gift...a LONG time from now, but time flies for us most days.

It seems like a lot of work since I've only been scrapbooking since this summer, but a page or two a day seems to really add up. And it will feel good to clear out the old magnetic albums and pitch them.

It's funny you asked this question , I just finished making a list of scrapbooks I want to complete this year . They include :

- 1 Album for each of my kids high school years
- 1 baby Album for all three kids
- 3 Disney Albums
- 1 Album for Hubby and me
- 1 Family heritage album
- 1 Album for my women's group
- 1 Album for our weding
- 1 small album in honor of a anniversary party we had a few years ago
- 1 album for Christmas
- Etc , etc , etc

Need I go on ? ( LOL )

I have 5 books going here right now...I have one for DS, one for DD, 1 for Disney trips, 1 for everyday things that happen and 1 for DS's Kindergarten/school days...so when DD gets to Kindergarten, she will have one as well...It works well for me and I don't have to combine all pictures in the same book! :) I do need to order a new Scrap Album though, my "everday" one is getting quite full! LOL

Thanks for sharing ladies. That assures me I'm not totally demented in this approach.

I'll discuss with DD whether she wants the separate "horse" book and then need to tackle the years books.

Thanks again
Deb

I have one album for each of my kids that goes from birth to the present. I only put in a few pages each year about school and their interests.

I do a Disney album for each of our trips.

Other than that we just have family albums. I have considered doing a Boy Scout album. Right now, DS's Scout stuff is in our family album because DH and I are involved, too. But when he makes Eagle rank, we'll have a reception and it would be nice to have a Scout album for people to watch his progression through scouting. Of course if I do that I should do a Girl Scout album or ballet album or something for DD. It never ends. :teeth:
