First of all I'm hoping someone will say, "There are no rules to scrapbooking."

I received a scrapbook through the Jiff/Disney offer and it has inspired me to create a scrapbook of our last trip. Something I really wanted to do anyway, but shyed away from figuring I wasn't crafty enough. I've chosen quite a few pics of the different parks and areas with in the parks we enjoyed the most, and even a few of my DD's bday she celebrated there, and I snagged a few more little adornments and a Disney kit to add to what came with the scrabook kit.

Now... here are my questions. What do you glue with, a glue stick? Any choices better than others? Do you use the decorative scissors? I have a couple and some Mickey head punches around here some where. Are ribbons and buttons necessary? and finally, Could someone please give me a really good "Scrapbooking for dummies" link? You know, one with pics.

I would be so greatful! :worship:

You're right- there are no rules to scrapbooking- you can do it the way you would like. The one exception to this is that if you want things to last forever you should use acid free products.

For adhesive I use tombow tape rollers, glue dots (really good for small objects), a zyron machine (for see through and smaller things), and double sided tape.

You can use decorative scissors and I do occassionally, you can use stickers, stamps, ribbons, punches, buittons, ect. Whatever you fancy or you can just use photos and a good pen for journaling as well as some cardstock or paper and have something simply that tells the story of your trip.

Really all scrapbooking is about it sharing the stories- we use objects, pictures, and journaling to tell the stories so we can remember them and look back and relive the memories.

Get yourself a Xyron (sticker maker)! You will not regret it!!

After that...HAVE FUN FUN FUN!!!

Ditto pp...this is about telling your story with photos, paper, and writing!

No rules... gotta love it!!
The only rule I have... is it needs to be acid free (the pen I write with, stickers, papers used)....

I use 3M glue, Scott's quick dry, glue stick (if it's used for paper to paper).. I use photo splits to adhere my photos to the mats/paper... All the glues I use are found in the scrapbook sections.. I have a sticker xyron machine and the big 500 machine...

It's an addictive hobby..ask my DH and kids! LOL

Hopefully you will enjoy making the book and enjoy looking at it - if so then it's a success!

The only things you really need to scrapbook are an acid free pen, acid free cardstock, some sort of acid free adhesive, and your photos. Of course I own enough scrapbook supplies to open a small store, but really that's all you need and they're all available at any craft or scrapbook store.

As far as adhesive goes it's personal preference. I love my tombow monoadhesive tape and mounting squares, but lots of other adhesives will work.

There are some sticky tabs on this forum that show people's pages and other websites have links too, but they always depress me because their pages are impressive. Trust me, not everyone's pages look like that, at least mine don't.
