Hi, As I was just doing this for our trip in 8 days :goodvibes I thought I should post this. I haven't seen this tip on the boards (though it's probably here somewhere.)

A few (rainy) trips ago I discovered that our cheaper umbrellas weren't waterproof and the rain actually dripped on our heads. So for the next trip, and each since, I have waterproofed (Scothcguard, etc.) our hats and umbrellas. It works great! :goodvibes Keeps our hair drier and I think it keeps the hats cleaner (I wear the baseball type at WDW-but I'm not really a hat person!)

I'm also going to use it on a couple of WDW cloth totes I have-I know we'll get rain so this will just help keep everything drier.

WDW here we come! :cool1:

How do you scotchguard something?? :confused3

You buy a can of Scotchgard. It is usually in the "laundry" section of department stores. Follow the directions on the can. You spray the Scotchgard on the item you want to waterproof. Then let it dry.

Great idea! Hadn't even considered that... I will have to spray my bag as we really don't bother with umbrellas or hats. Thanks :goodvibes

LOL! The only umbrella I've ever had leak like that was a Mickey one I bought from Disney store online about 1 1/2 years ago! I guess it was a "cheap" one! :rotfl2: I used it in Epcot and couldn't believe that the water was dripping on me! I have scotchguarded it, but haven't been brave enough to try it in the rain again yet. Glad to hear it worked!
