Can anyone tell me about the scooters that you can rent just when you get through that first building on the dock (right before you reach the horse buggies) in Nassau.

My 16yo DS and I would like to rent them to cruise around Nassau when we go back this September. Price? Age? Insurance? Fun?

Scooters are a lot of fun (I own one) but I wouldn't want my 1st experience driving one to be in Nassau. Drivers of cars there have a tendency to be more reckless and the streets are narrower. Traffic is heavy when the cruise ships are docked and you will be in unfamiliar territory. Since the scooter is smaller than a car. people tend to not see you and pull out in front of you or cut you off.

I'd caution against it unless both DS AND YOU are experienced riders of two-wheeled motorized vehicles. I've never driven in Nassau, but my experience in Bermuda was not good. There are just too many distractions and differences (traffic patterns, left side of the road, etc.) to safely do it and learn how to ride a scooter at the same time. If you're both experienced with motorcycles or scooters, that's a different story.

That's just MHO. YMMV.
