Hi all! We will be driving across country the beginning of August and should be hitting disneyland the 8th, 9th and 10th (wed, thurs, fri). We are frequent WDW visitors but I haven't been to disneyland since 1974 when I was 5 so this is all new to me.

My mom has a bad knee, wears a big clunky brace, and walks with a cane. At WDW, she rents a scooter for most days, but sometimes will stick it out walking at the magic kingdom because she finds it too hard to drive it through the crowds in the summer. Of course she pays the price by the end of the day with much added pain. From what I understand, disneyland is even more compact and therefore would probably be even harder to use a scooter. Is this the case? Is it going to be feasible for her to ride a scooter at all there? I'm not sure what the best answer is for her. Are there a lot of people that use scooters at disneyland/CA?

Yes, there are a lot of people on ECVs at Disneyland. DH is one of them. If your mom needs one, I encourage her to use one; it will make her trip much more enjoyable if she is in less pain.

Definitely get an ECV if your mom needs one, but rent from offsite, they will be cheaper, more maneuverable and you will be able to take it to and from the hotel.

Also, I strongly recommend getting one of the blinking light up necklaces or other items that will make here more visible at night.

one of the most popular ecv off site rental places here is Deckerts....they dont have a website but their number is 714-542-5607...they are based out of santa ana and will deliver and put together your scooter for you...i absolutely love them...

ok so i have another place...across the street from DL at Ramada Maingate (actually right across from hotel lobby) there is a place called village scooters...they arent the best when it comes to customer service (not rude just sometimes incompetent with things and you have to be on them) but the pros to them were that if something goes wrong all you have to do is go across the street and get another one...we had an issue where 2 hours after picking up the scooter it was almost dead...we took it back and they gave us another one and we had no problems from then on out...the Orange county visitors website has a coupon for 10% off and for a 3 day it made it $121 which is pretty good...heres the link:
