Scooter's At AKL / Fort Wilderness Cabins

My SIL will be renting a ECV scooter from an Orlando firm and will have it delivered to AKL. Can they be driven into the standard size rooms so that they can be charged nightly. SIL does not need a special needs room, only a scooter for mobility. Do most Disney buses have ramps for easy access for the scooter? I know I will suggest to her that she get the disability pamphlet from WDW. She intends on using WDW transportation to get from hotel to parks.

I just found out she is moving to the FW Cabins for five nights,do the ECV's fit inside the trailers or can she leave it outside parked and plugged into the golf cart electrical charge? Can the FW internal bus system accomodate the EVC's.

Yes they fit in the standard rooms. You may have to move the trashcan to get to the plug but that is no biggy. Most of the buses are handicapped accessible. ON occasion you may have to wait for a second bus but not more than that normally.

We've had the same bus experience as Lisa has, so I would say the bus transportation is not really a problem.

This will be my first trip to AKL with an ECV. I have stayed at the Caribbean, where the rooms are smaller, with no problem. Its only a metter of deciding where to park the scooter. The charge they provide comes with two about 6 foot cords, one to the wall and the other to the scooter. This means you only have to plug it in to the wall one time and be able to park within range and where it is out of the normal line of traffic. Also, often it is better in the room to set the ECV to "freewheel" and push it rather than actually drive in the room.

She needs to contact special needs and request a cabin with a ramp. They can be plugged outside but then you must cover the ECV in case of rain. They fit just fine in the cabins that have ramps.
