Can you rent a scooter that would fit the back of a rental van or car?

We are worried about the bus service.

Any chance a couple of people lifting it into the back of a van or car?

TIA.

Check out some of the scooter websites - they have scooters which break down into pieces and can fit even into the trunk of a sedan (though not with suitcases).

That should work well for what you need. I have heard great things about Apple Scooter recently. The website and phone number are in the FAQs at the top of the page.

If you get one of the smaller travel scooters, you should have no trouble with it fitting in your vehicle. As crazy as this may sound, but I know for a fact that the Pride Go-Go Traveler Elite Plus scooters will fit in the trunk of a mustang convertible. Not something I would recommend, but it can be done.

My scooter (referenced above) weighs 115lbs fully assembled and before I got my lift my mother and I could lift it into the back of our conversion van fully assembled. If I was by myself, I would just take the seat and battery off and lift the rest in assembled.

When the scooter is fully broken down it is very easy for one person to load or unload it.

Check out Post #5 in the disABILITIES FAQs. There is detailed information there. Note you can get to the FAQs directly by clicking on the link in my signature.

We rented the smallest scooter Beuna Vista had for our last trip. Emerald Isle had only full sized cars. We could have broken the scooter down into pieces but felt that would take too much time. We went to the Car Care Center and explained our problem. They allowed us to 'trade' our Dodge Charger for an HHR. The scotter fit perfectly in the back with 1 seat down. My problem is my knee so my husband and I could lift the scooter in and out ok. Does anyone know what class car the HHR would be considered?

I always rent a regular sized scvooter from Randy's Mobility and we always rent a car. If the vehicle is a small SUV or smaller, we do take the seat off before lifting the scooter into the back. If we have a full sized SUV or a minivan, we can lift the entire scooter into the car in one piece. Heavy but definitely better than constantly taking the scooter apart and putting it back together. My problems are knees and lungs, so DH and I can lift. At home I have a Fold n' Go and I can load it myself into my car.

We've rentedd from Walker Mobility for years and never had a problem whether in a rental car or van. very light, easy to setup and use scooters too.
