Are they available in the parks? My stepdad should use one in parks like Epcot, but I don't want him to have to have it on the monorail. Also, do you know the cost? Thanks!

The prices are there, but off-site locations are much less expensive than Disney and much easier to maneuver. And I don't see any reason why he should not take an ECV on the monorail (or buses or any other form of transportation).

You can rent scooters in each of the parks for (I think) $50.00 per day. If you're going to park hop and don't want to take the scooter with you, keep your receipt and if a scooter is still available at the next park, there is no extra charge. However, they may be all rented out. That's why so many rent from an outside company. Not only is it cheaper, but you're guaranteed to have a scooter everywhere you go.

I'm a bit apprehensive about taking the scooter on the monorail too, but it's something I'm going to have to do. I think after the first time, I won't feel so nervous. I use a scooter at the local stores here at home and rented one for an entire week at DL last summer, so I'm pretty familiar with them.

My aunt rented the scooter she got from Scooter Vacations, and she absolutely loved it! She was able to maneuver onto all types of transportation, including the monorail, without any kind of issue. If you go directly to the wheelchair gate for the monorail, the CM will have a ramp there, ready for you to use. You can take all the time that you need. We actually liked taking the monorail a lot more than the buses, just because it was so much easier to maneuver the ECV in and out of it.
