I am wanting to go back to DL this next year. I have taken my scooter on the airlines to WDW with no problem, but I'm trying to avoid flying and am considering taking Amtrak.

Does anyone have any experience traveling with a scooter on the train? I can get around OK on the train and can handle steps, so I don't need a lower level seat. I just really need to transport the scooter.

If it is a long-distance train and they have a baggage car you should be able to check the ECV. Their site www.amtrak.com does not really give good information.

They do state "Amtrak trains accommodate most wheelchairs in use today, provided they meet the ADA definition of a "common" wheelchair. Please note:

Dimensions: The chair should not exceed 30 inches (76 centimeters) wide, 48 inches (122 centimeters) long and 2 inches (5 centimeters) of ground clearance.
Weight: The weight limit for an occupied wheelchair is 600 pounds (273 kilograms).
Manual and battery powered: We permit both manually operated and battery powered wheelchairs that meet the above limits." Most ECVs are within these limits.

You might have to talk to someone at a special reservations desk at Amtrak.
