We are at a point with my husband that having access to a scooter can be helpful for him. When we did WDW it was on day 3 that we started to rent from the park.

He doesn't need it all the time.

What is the scooter rental situation at Disneyland. I am going to look into renting one that we can take back to the hotel- but would rather rent at the park as we need it.

1. Do they run out often or is it rare that they run out?

2. If we want to take a mid day break I assume we can't leave with it.. do we have to pay again?

3. Best options for renting from a private company?

Where will you be staying? This thread might help: https://www.disboards.com/threads/scooter-rental-gch-and-rides.3953456/

Desert inn and suites. Thank you this is helpful.
I also stay at the DI&S most of the time when I go to Disneyland.
I prefer to rent from Select Scooter (located in the lobby of BWPPI)

The scooters from Select Scooter hold a charge the WHOLE day/night in the parks.
Renting from an outside company allows me to use the scooter outside the parks.
I don't need one all the time so I will park it at central spot until I feel the need to be using it.
I really appreciated it at the end of a long day for returning to the hotel.

Select Scooter Anaheim (714) 644-8057 This is the number I call to reserve one for a trip.
They will deliver to DI&S and pick up when you are finished with it. That makes it so easy!

I rented from Select when I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott and it was a very smooth experience, I would definitely rent from them again. I booked online and also called them with some questions and they were extremely helpful and friendly.

As for renting directly from DL, they can run out but I have no idea how often that happens. I think you can leave them with the rental place and come back without having to pay again. I don’t know if they have upgraded from the blue scooters they used to have but I have seen a lot of people have trouble maneuvering those, just something else to maybe consider.

We rented from Select as well. It was very convenient. They dropped the scooter off the night before (we asked for a 7am pickup time) and picked it up the morning after our rental. It was great having for going to & from the parks.

Personally I rented one from D&R mobility and they will deliver and pick up from your hotel. I think they were even cheaper than the ones at disneyland that you can only use in the park. The price ranges between 50-40 per day depending how many days you need it for, its cheaper the more days you rent it.

If you are staying at disney property look at scooter bug.
Just wanted to confirm - is it still possible for an outside ECV vendor to meet you at your Disney hotel with your ECV? Meaning - if I'm there to meet them in the lobby at GCH, will they let the vendor onto property to give me the ECV?

Edited to add: this is how it worked for my stay at GCH in December 2023. Deckert Surgical delivered (and picked up) an ECV to me at GCH. I made appointments to meet them for dropoff and pickup.

Curious about this as well. Not sure how scooter bug is at DLR but I’ve heard some
Pretty negative things about scooter bug on the WDW-side.

This is how it worked for us at GCH in July 2023 for D&R Mobility. Worked out great. Just call them or Deckert--they will tell you.

In case this information could be helpful to anyone else, I spoke with a few of the outside scooter rental companies I've seen mentioned on the DIS and here's what I found if you're staying at a Disney resort.

Select Scooter Rental https://anaheimscooters.com/ 714-644-8057 Will meet you at your hotel for dropoff and pickup. Hours are between 8 am and 3 pm.

D&R Mobility Scooter Rental https://dandrmobility.com/ 714-883-8761 Will meet you at your hotel for dropoff and pickup. Sounds like business hours are doable, but they will discuss options once you know what time you need the scooter.

One Stop Mobility https://www.onestopmobility.com/disneyland/ 714-533-1444 will meet you at your hotel for dropoff and pickup. Hours are between 8am and 8pm, with 2-hour windows (e.g., 8-10am). They will call you when they are close to your hotel.

My wife is giving Gold Mobility a try for our upcoming trip. Wasn't thrilled with Sooter Bug the last time we tried them at WDW.

Actually trying to get her to think about buying an Atto.

I ended up reserving one from select Mobility/ anahiem scooter. Thanks all! Now to learn a bit about scooters and Disneyland. My husband doesn't need to have it all the time like he can do a ride line without it.

Yes, as long as you met them in the Lobby they will drop off, worked great for us we just called when we arrived and they were there in 10 minutes.

Thanks for the info, so looks like you have to call them to set it up? I tried reserving it on the D&R website but the disneyland hotels weren't an option to select.
