Tell me about Sci Fi is it as bad as some say is the new burger good. Going there for our first time in a couple of weeks.

Here is our experience.

Dh and I went for lunch. He had the burger and I had the chicken sandwich. DH loved his burger. I tasted it and it was just like any burger I thought, he agreed but still loved it. (he is a burger guy).
My chicken sandwich was like any other...nothing to write home about.
The onion rings were great. They were battered, not breaded, which is what we like. They had a sweet taste, which is also something we like.

The over all experience was "ok". At first it is cool to sit down, get all sentimental, but after about 15mins that wears off.

What I found to be annoying was the video clips. They show a few minutes or long trailers of many "B" rated movies of the past. Nothing you can get into, which I understand. But it left me unsatisfied. The couple movies that I thought I would like to watch, of course I couldn't as it was just trailers.
So to us that was annoying, it was like watching long commercials.
Would've been better to have short 15min films, or cartoons.

It is something to do once, but after that there is better restaurants to experience.

I would say def go and make your own mind up because for everybody that loved it there is somebody that hated it. I fall into the same catorgory as the PP and that is it was OK..:confused3
Forgot what we ate now, as it was forgetable, nothing WOW about it. I think you are paying for the atmosphere/theming of the place which I think is great. I liked the clips of all the old B movies and unlike the PP I know I couldn't have sat through a whole B movie:) I think it's expensive for what it is as the food wasn't all that better then a counter service meal, but if you are on the DDP then yes do it. I wouldn't be rushing back especially for this restaurant as I think there are lots more that are better.;)

The appeal at Sci-Fi isn't the food. Our meal was good and the milkshakes were great, but it was the atmosphere that made the experience. We certainly had better meals on our trip, but the food was good. We will go again just for the experience.

I'm with most others in the "do it for the experience" camp. My DH and I go every trip.

The burgers and fries are your standard burger. Nothing great, but nothing worse than an Applebees, TGIFridays, etc. The onion rings have always been great and the adult milkshakes are sooo good as a dessert if you're an icecream/milkshake lover. :lovestruc

One thing we HATE about restaurants in general is the noise level that's often created during high dining times. This alone is one reason to go to Sci-Fi. It's so quiet. Everyone is watching the movies, people have always tended to keep their voices down...it just makes for a pleasant meal.

I think everyone should try anything they're interested in once to see if it's for them or not. Everyone has a different opinion and what I may love, others may hate---and that's fine! :thumbsup2

DH got a burger with milkshake. Kids and I all got ribs with milkshakes. We all quite enjoyed our meals and will likely be back. I wouldn't say DH's burger was spectacular thing that stands out as one of the best burgers he's ever eaten but it was tasty and it hit the spot. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. I think I have a special place in my heart for the milkshakes because they actually have a dedicated milk free mixer for those of us with allergies so the shake was HEAVENLY to us.

IMO the atmosphere is part of what made it such an enjoyable meal. Our kids are 11 and 13 and we put them in the front seat while DH and I sat in the middle seat. They were completely enthralled with the movie clips so DH and were able to actually relax and quietly talk to each other and just be together. That kind of time is golden when you have kids. As somebody else said, it's wonderfully quiet in there. With the dim lighting, it's just such a wonderful respite from the hustle and bustle of park life.

I thought that sci-fi was really neat. My kids are still talking about eating in the car and watching the big movie screen and we ate there in May. The food was good we had chips and spinach dip and sandwiches and ice cream for dessert. The nice thing was its dark in there and cool on hot days.

I liked the Sci-Fi, we ate there is 2010 so I couldn't tell you about the new menu. The atmosphere I believe is why most people go there. It really is neat to sit in the cars and watch "B-movie cheesy" clips and trailers. The food we had was tasty, I wouldn't say it was the best food I had ever had...but definitely not bad food. The onion rings were delicious, I would definitely suggust getting those. I had a grilled chicken sandwhich, it was pretty good. It kind of had an Italian flare, I believe there was brushetta on it if I am remembering correctly. My DH had a burger and was also happy with it.

We love the Sci-Fi - it is a must do every trip - DH said his steak in there was amongst the best last time and the atmosphere is always great - he wants to go there for his birthday meal next year.:cool1:

We LOVE Sci-Fi! Sci-Fi is the one reservation that is a unanamous request every trip for my family.

Every time I start planning our trip to Disney, I always get "make sure we go to Sci-Fi".

We LOVE their burgers and onion rings. DH wants to try the steak this time, several of our friends that have been recently said it is a really great steak. The atmosphere is the best in Disney, IMHO. So unique.

If you have kids, make sure they ask the car hop for a drivers license. The kids get a really cool glow in the dark cup with a lid and straw, full of caramel corn. Really, really cute souvenir.

We were pleasantly surprised by Sci-Fi. We all had burgers, o-rings, & the kids had milkshakes. I'm not a burger fanatic, but it was one of the best burgers I've had. It was definitely the best I've had on WDW property. I'm a sucker for a mushroom, swiss burger, so it was right up my alley. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We went for lunch. It's not my idea of a good dinner, but we don't usually eat sandwiches for dinner on vacation. We'll definitely return for lunch. Sorry, we went before the new burger was introduced, so I don't know about it.

We haven't been back in years. Only because there're too many choices. This reminded me how much we enjoyed our meal. We still have the Back Seat Licence our server gave our girls. Next time for sure, this time we'll have two more grandchildren to share Sci Fi with.

Sci Fi is one of the few we'd repeat on a future trip. Food is pretty standard but consistenly good and we are picky eaters, so we like that. The atmosphere is also unique and something you can only do at Disney.

I was a little apprehensive about eating at Sci Fi for dinner because of some of the bad reviews it gets on here. We were at Sci Fi during the first week of October, 2011 and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised! First of all, our server was very attentive and made lots of suggestions. My oldest daughter had the shrimp pasta and the new red velvet cheesecake for dessert. She loved her meal. I had the rueben with sweet potato fries and it was good. My husband had the new double Angus burger (not the picnic burger but the other new burger) and he enjoyed it very much. Our little one had the beef macaroni with a sundae for dessert and she liked it. The cherry cokes were really good too. Overall, we enjoyed this restaurant, both the food and the atmosphere, and would definitely go there again. :thumbsup2

We went for lunch on our last trip. It was not planned, so I had no preconceived notions of what it was to be like. I just didn't want more counter service and I wanted a salad with my meal that did not have iceberg lettuce in it or was *just* lettuce. I know I had an app salad and the turkey club and DH had the reuben. I'm pretty sure I got a milk shake since I heard about how good they were. It was really yummy!

We are going back there for our next trip and I've already made the ADR's. It's not out-of-this-world good, but it's not counter service. We have the DxDP, so what we're "spending" is the same as counter service anyway.

My kids like the movie reels and the "stars" on the walls and ceiling.

It's a must do for our trips! Sci-Fi is one of just a handful of "requests" I get each trip. We love the atmosphere and like a PP said...it's quiet and a break from all the hurry and hustle and bustle. AND it's nice and cool and dark!
