Sci-Fi may not have the best food, but it's worth it to do at least once, right? I have a DFiance, and we're going this September for our honeymoon. He likes the idea of the set-up of the restaurant, but from MY experience, the food is only okay.. I booked the ADR just-in-case, but.. am I perhaps ordering "the wrong thing?" ;) Maybe I'm missing the good stuff!

We really liked this restaurant. It was fun. As far as the food it was ok.

I think you'll like it.

I like the atmosphere here. It is a 50's burger type of place so that is the type of food you need to expect from here. It isn't a gourmet experience it is just fun. i like the shakes with alcohol!

The Sci Fi has become a tradition for our family, but only for lunch and only for burgers. We think their burgers are pretty darn good, as are their onion rings and shakes.

We ate at Sci Fi for the first time on our honeymoon last October. It is really neat!!! DH really enjoyed the place, the burgers were awesome, and the atmosphere cannot be beat. The only negative we have of the place is that the clips they show on the big screen need to be a bit longer...we sat through the reel at least 3 times....other than that wonderful!

We both decided that our son would love the place, so we are booking an ADR for this December.

Make sure you get a car table, it increases the mood. ;)

I don't know what it is about this place and how they make their burgers.. but they are pretty much some of the best ones on disney property. I remember one time going to Sci-Fi with my sister and she had a burger and I had something else .... she gave me a bite of her burger and I spent the rest of the time begging her for another bite!

I also don't remember if the burgers are listed on the lunch or dinner menu only (I'm thinking it's the lunch menu) .... so if you are there (at dinner?) and it's not on the menu, just ask.. they will still make you one.

good luck and have fun! I love the Sci-Fi! popcorn::

ps, congrats on your upcoming wedding!!!

It's such a unique place - you have to try it at least once. I never thought the food was that bad.

Stick with the burgers, steak sandwich, fries and onion rings. Most importantly, you MUST have a milkshake.

Also, if it's even close to your birthday, let the waiter know you are celebrating. You'll receive a wonderful birthday dessert.

Enjoy

The onion rings and milkshakes are delicious and my whole family enjoyed the atmosphere. Like another poster said...the food is not gourmet, but if you go expecting a good burger, onion rings and milkshake, you'll get it. It's definitely a unique place and so worth at least one trip!

I think Sci Fi is worth it for a nice relaxing lunch out of the FL heat and humidity.
For a dinner, I would pass.

We are taking our DS5 end of this month. I was wondering about the 'Sci-Fi' movies they show.

Why skip for dinner? Is it worse or is it that if you don't want burgers and onion rings for dinner?

When we were there, the clips were of old 50's monster movies. It was a lot of fun, but dark (well it is a drive in!) The food was bad, but that was in 98. I'm now willing to try it again. I keep on dreaming of the atmosphere, but DH is still not willing to go back. Definitly worth trying it once. We ordered "exotic" food and it just didn't work out.

We love it at Sci-Fi. DH, DS and DD love to laugh at all the old clips. Definitely worth it. Food was not that bad btw.

We have eaten there for lunch and dinner, multiple times each.
The dinners have consistently been a disappointment.
The only time we really eat there any more is when our choices are either Sci-Fi, counter service, or leave MGM and eat elsewhere. (In other words I rate Sci Fi one step above MGM counter service, that I avoid, period.)
I think for dinner I would do what others suggest and order lunch food (burgers and shakes). Very few complain about those. Years ago DH had an adult milkshake there that he loved.
But dinner food at Sci Fi is just mediocre, if you are lucky.
And yes, it is a drive in theme. But it would be nice to be able to read a menu without a pocket flashlight too.
The clips are entertaining. I love the Disney Mars cartoon clip.

We like the atmosphere and the silly movie drive-in clips....but hate the food!!
Our last time there in Sept 2006 was horrible!
I had some steak special of the evening, not the normal one listed on the menu, and it was horrible.
And the time before that was bad food too.

It's a shame really. As we really enjoy the aesthetics of the place.
