We haven't been back to Sci-Fi for a while and I'm in need of a TS at DHS. We did Mama Melrose's last time and it was just kind of mediocre. Sci-Fi at least there's some interesting atmosphere and I remember liking the food.

BUT.....it was sooooo quiet! We went in the middle of June and every table was packed and I remember "shushing" my kids because everybody was so quiet, watching the various movies.

What do you think? Worth another shot?

It was quiet when we went as well but I didn't feel as though it was the kind of restaurant where I would have to shush my kids. I thought the food and service were terrible though and it is one of the only restaurants that I probably would never return to. I did like the atmosphere though.

I think it's so funny that you brought this up because I thought the same thing when we were there. It was so quiet and I felt bad about taking a photo in there. Not to mention...FREEZING.:rotfl2:
We thought It was cool sitting in the car and the pasta dish and the peanut butter chocolate cake was delicious!!!!! However, I am not sure I would go again. It was good to experience it once.
They didn't show any movie clips that any of us liked or the kids were even amused by so for us it was just "ok".

50's Primetime is great, noisy and fun with much better food. I thought the Sci-Fi menu was very restricted. 50's PT has delicious chicken, pot roast and meat loaf and is a very fun and interactive experience.

Thanks for these replies! Glad I'm not alone in thinking it was toooooo quiet for a WDW restaurant :goodvibes

Thanks for the 50s Prime Time suggestion. Haven't been there in a really long time, so I'm glad to hear you had a good experience. Plus, all stuff my kids will eat with no urging ;)

Your right, it was pretty quiet at Sci Fi. We went there last week. I do remember hearing other parents shushing their kids. haha! The first time i went here, the food was so good. Had the ribs. Last week, not the same wonderful experience. I had the ribs again, it was just ok. The texture was off, so was the taste. I love the atmosphere and would go again...but not for a while. For my next trip I will probably pick 50's. Love the antics, atmosphere and food.

I had never thought of it before, but you are right - it is very quiet! I don't think you need to worry about having a noisy group - is anyone really that involved in listening to the movie clips? I think the audience just gets sucked in, but the sound isn't too important.

DH and I go to Sci-Fi every now and again, but our favorite DHS restaurants are Brown Derby and 50s Primetime.

I give another thumbs up for 50's... if you are looking to just have fun, and not worry about noise, you can't miss! :thumbsup2

I was there with my son this past week. I read many negative reviews but wanted to give it a try for the experience. I didn't feel like you had to be super quiet and actually really enjoyed the food. My sons burger was quite tasty and I kept taking bites of it! I got the ribs and found them quite tender. The red velvet cheesecake was very good too. We were on the regular dining plan and got shakes as our drinks, but the waitress also brought us vanilla cokes without charging for them.

I would not say that Sci Fi was quiet at all. The speakers were so loud that I couldn't even hear my kids talking to me unless I leaned in and they yelled so I certainly wouldn't feel like it was a place where I had to shush them. But maybe we went on a noisy day because we saw many people try to find ways to cover their speakers and muffle the sound.

I've never really thought of it as a quiet restaurant but then again it's dark so maybe that makes it seem more 'quiet'. We talk normally and I have 5 children, it's never felt like we're bothering other tables or anything.....I mean we've never felt like we needed to whisper.
