Last year we walked up to Sci-Fi for lunch and were lucky to get a table, which was fine at the time. This year the kids would really love to sit in a car. We have a ressie for lunch again this year but I did not see any place to specifically request a car rather than a table. Is it possible to put this in with the reservation, or is it just up to the podium when you check in for the ADR?

Thanks!

Last summer we had an ADR for dinner - when we checked in at the podium they asked us if we wanted a table or a car and what the wait time was approximately for both.

We went last September with no reservations. We arrived when it opened (around 11:00). I asked if there were any tables available. The hostess said that we could wait about 30 min. and sit at a table. That certainly wasn't my first choice, but I was happy for anything since we didn't have ADR. The first party that they called evidently checked in but left. We got great seats in a car!!! I certainly wouldn't recommend trying your luck on that, but we were thrilled to have great seats with a last minute decision.
That being said, we made our own ADR this year for September since our boys liked it so much. I'm going to request a "car table" when we check in. I think that the atmosphere there is the main reason we go. The food is good, but the atmosphere is great!

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Sci-Fi was a nice surprise on our trip last year, we loved the food, and we are looking forward to being able to eat there again in September! :cool1:

how would a party of 7--6 adults and 1 child fit?
Depends on the size of the child, but unless it's a high chair situation, most likely the front 2 rows of 2 cars that would hopefully be next to each other. There are a couple of cars that have a regular table in the middle instead of bench seats, also.

It's really up to you guys. We went with 5 adults and 3 kids. We had 2 adults and a 5 year old in the front row, an adult, 1 year old in high chair, and 6 year old in the second row and 2 adults in the back row. If you're all wanting to sit in the same car; just tell the hostess that you're fine with everyone sitting in one car, and I'd put the 2 smallest adults and the kiddo in a row together. It might be a little tight, but if you want to, you can do it. We're considering doing this again this year.
