Sci Fi or Prime Time?

This is our 1st WDW trip and we'll be on the free dining plan. Not sure which place has good food and good atmosphere. TIA

We are a family of 9 who just returned from our 2nd family Prime Time and this is the one place the kids still talk about! They loved hat PawPaw had to stand up and sing I'm a Little Tea Pot...nohing makes GKs happier than to see grown ups acting silly while being punished for elbows on the table.

DH and I have been many times with adults and other GKs and always had fun watching others get into trouble, this was a 1st for our family.

By the way, the kids love the glow ice cubes in their drinks (not cheap $ 5.99) but a great souvenier.

They are both very unique.

Part depends on whether you want to watch the show or would rather be 'in' the show.

Are you outgoing, willing to play along and get into the action? Then go to Prime Time.

If you'd rather not 'play', go to Sci Fi. The atmosphere is really neat, very different.

I think most would say the food at Prime Time is better. When we ate at Sci Fi, it was on a whim, desperate for a break. I was wary of the food but had a really yummy some kind of beef soup and a fanatastic salad. I don't think either are still on the menu.

Check the menus out and see what you would eat.

They are both great, but my kids love the Sci Fi best. It is their favorite restaurant at Disney! My DH and I really enjoy it too!

We love Prime Time more than Sci-Fi as we like the food and show better. It's always a must do for us, Sci-Fi is alright if we go we go if not no loss for us!

First of all -- YAY for your first trip to WDW!! How exciting!!!

Secondly - to answer your question...

Like previous posters have said, I think it really depends whether or not you want to "watch the show" or "be in the show." DH and I have eaten at both and we've had a great time at both!

I would have to say, though, that the first time we ate at Prime Time, it was just the two of us and the interaction wasn't as "good" as it was when we ate there as a group of five (my mom, dad, husband, brother-in-law, and myself). So, if you have a group of people (more than two, probably), then you will have a GREAT time at Prime Time!

As for the food, I would say that Sci Fi caters more to the "soup and sandwiches" kind of thing while Prime Time caters more to the "comfort food." You should probably check out the menus on Allears.net and see if one menu appeals to you more than the other.

Regardless of whichever you choose, I know that you will have a fantastic time!

Just got back today, ate at Sci-Fi on Sunday June 5th. Family loved it, something for our 15 year old son who was Princessed out by the end of the week. Walked right in, no wait, Sunday evening. Great waiter and staff, plenty of good food (Wife and I had the ribs) Kids loved the show.. Happy with our choice

DH and I like the food and atmosphere/interaction better at 50's PT. DS (9) loves Sci-Fi where he can sit in the front of the car by himself and enjoy the creepy flicks. We usually end up going to both on most of our trips.

Prime Time! Definitely! We can't skip this. For us, once we got it in our blood we could not stop going back.

We have eatten at Prime Time twice and Sci Fi once.

The first time at Prime Time was amazing, the waitress we had played the part perfectly and we played right along with her.

However the 2nd time the waiter didn't play the part as well so we didn't enjoy it as much but the food was great and the milkshakes are to die for.

Sci Fi was neat, great theming but food was just OK.

I think you will enjoy either.....great experience.
