We are only having one sit down meal at MGM, we usually go to Sci-fi, but thought we'd give 50's a chance...am I making a mistake? My girls love sci-fi, but I thought a change would be good...thoughts? My daughters are 14, 12 and 9.

my family and i love 50's PrimeTime. the atmosphere is great and the waiters are funny. not to mention the food is delicious. :goodvibes we've tried Sci-Fi and we loved the theming but didn't like the food to much.

hope that helps.

I don't think your making a mistake. We have a good time at 50's Prime Time Cafe. The food is good and great atmosphere! Save some room for the great ice cream sundaes!

We ate at Prime Time on July 15. It was great! Our service was excellent, and the atmopshere is fun. It's now on our must do list for next time.

I had this dilemma myself and chose an ADR for Sci-Fi. Not because I don't think me and my kids would LOVE 50s... but my husband is a wild card when it comes to enjoying stuff like the waitstaff is famous for.

For me, it was a "guaranteed sit down for a while and cool off while getting milkshakes we'll like at the very least" versus "take a chance that the heat on day 5 of our trip won't have hubby all cranky and not in the mood to be asked to clean his plate."

If I could have pushed MGM earlier in the week I would have chosen 50s. In our CP years, my husband and I witnessed one poor man go through a little more teasing than we thought necessary and while I know the waitstaff is hilarious and I'd enjoy it... I chose to not make it a worry at all. I obsess!

Your mileage may vary! Have a great trip!

Love eating in the cars at Sci-fi.

While both are good choices, I agree with you and would try 50's just for the change. On my last, week long, trip to the world, and on the dining plan I decided to eat every meal at a restaurant that I have never tried before in my 10 annual trips so far. Sci fi and 50's among them. I think like many people, I always went to the same restaurants year after year because not only was it good food but comforting in that you knew what to expect. If you visit WDW often, thats one way you can make each visit new and different. I am not a picky eater and had no regrets. Be daring! Be adventurous!

While I haven't tried Sci-Fi yet, I have tried 50's primeTime. I would give it a shot! We loved the food, atmophere and antics.
I didn't think I'd like the fried cheese very much, but man...it was so good I can't wait to go back and try it again! This was one of my kids favorite places to eat. The only downfall for us- we picked a busy time to go so we did do some waiting, but what better place to wait.:)

thanks everyone, I agree with the poster that said "be adventurous" we sometimes have so many wdw "traditions" that I'm afraid to change and try new. But sometimes change turns out to be even BETTER! Thanks for your help! We too love eating in the cars....but.....it's not THAT great, we'll give 50's a shot this time!

Sci-Fi is one of my absolute favorites at WDW, but if you haven't tried 50s yet, I say go for it! The food is a little better, and I think it's got its own uniqueness.

I have eaten at both places and at they are both good. With the 50's Prime Time - it is as only good as your server. I have had boring ones and then I had really great ones.
But it does not hurt to try something different - maybe you will create new traditions!

We always try to go to 50's on every trip. It is really a fun restaurant and the food is good too.

We love the 50's! The food is awesome, the decor is so cute and if you get a server that is really into the schtick you can have a great time

So, we'll give 50's a try and I look forward to good food. A fun waiter would be a nice perk and will make the difference for my family if they like 50's as much as sci-fi, I'm sure.

I would say stick with the Sci-Fi...This past May and Oct we went to both the Sci-Fi and 50's for lunch...It seems (at least for us anyway) that the staff doesnt really act out their parts at the 50's prime time cafe..I think that makes the restaurant experience!...The food is just ok at both of them IMO...At least you know at th SCI-FI there will be consistency in the atmosphere!...

We ate at 50’s last year and loved it!! The food is great, and it’s a really fun restaurant...! :goodvibes
