Sci-Fi on multiple reservations

For our upcoming trip we have a larger group of 8 trying to find a reservation at the sci-fi. I spoke with Disney Dining on the phone as well, but they didn't see any availability but suggested trying multiple smaller groups across our party's MDE accounts.

Lucky us! We were able to get 4 reservations of 2 at the same time (how does that even happen?) I called back to see if they could all be linked together / have a note that we are all the same group so we can try to sit near each other.

Worst case scenario, it's not like you can really talk to each other well when sitting in the cars, but out of curiosity, has anyone else had multiple reservations here to accommodate their party, and if requested, were you able to sit together or at least near each other?

I don't think any of the cars seat more than six.

Most cars seat 4 or 6, with a couple tables that are bookend cars that "might" seat more. We went once as a party of 10 (one reservation) and they sat us at 2 cars, not side by side and couldn't talk to each other.

I was just down there ...

and experienced this .... so just go figuring out who is sitting with who in case they split you all up.

Saw an interesting situation at Sci Fi Dine In. Six adults, multiple reservations within a 10 minute window, arrived to try to "merge" and a manager came over and made all her notes on the tablet. We were a party of 2 and were taken in first seated in a car that was empty. Another couple came in and was seated with us. Next up the large party but they were put in 3 cars in the same bench position that were lined up but with big gaps between.

They could have sat that party in our car together and put the other couple and us in two other cars. It was so simple it seemed splitting them was ... on purpose. I mean they weren't splitting them, they were using their original reservations. I'm sure many of the guests would have liked them seated together too because they spent the meal yelling to each other, loud, even about stupid stuff like "do you want my fries?".

My point is ... the sat them "close" together even though they could have sat them together so it will always be a risk.
