Sci Fi Drive In

We have never tried SCI FI. It appears like a lot of you love it so I think we should give it a try! Thanks for all the opinions I read on DISboards ---the good and the bad!

This is a family MUST for us. We usually go for lunch. Sci-Fi offers one of the BEST burgers in WDW!

On our last trip we went 2 times, we had burgers on both times (lunch).
We had a blast, the place is cool looking and I think kids (and kids at heart like me) love the car/tables drive-in feel.

My DS thought is was awesome, he had the burger said it was delicious

DH and myself had the rueben sandwich, it was toasted so hard that I cut my lip (actully started bleeding). I ended up taking the corn beef and kraut off the bread. If your an eyeglass wearer be prepared for it to be very dark. The lighting if very limited I could hardly read the menu. :teeth:

So just ask for lightly toasted rueben and flashlight and you'll be just fine. :rotfl2:

Overall I probably would go back, I'll just be more prepared. :smooth:

We've been in the MGM park lots of times on two different trips and have not run into the SCIFI..... When you first walk in the MGM entrance, what is the direction to walk??? :confused3
Thanks alot.

It's on the left side of the park.. The easiest way to get there is to take the path to the left side of the "blue hat". You will pass by counter service there... keep going and at the end ot the path look to your right. I think you can see it from there. The other way is past Indiana Jones and Star Tours and look on your right at the bottom of the hill. I think it kind of connects to New York Street area... Hope this helps some!

:wave2:

By the way we have not been since 2000 and I have made a ressie for our September trip. Are the ribs any good? I see them listed on the menu and they sound good!

SCIFI-Fun place to eat, enjoy it there.

i would recommend lunch, burgers, hotdog or ribs & you're right the sci fi dine in has great atmosphere.

This is a large warehouse that has a B movie playing. The volume is low and many people in the restaurant try to listen to the movie which is very bad. Because the restaurant is so quiet, it seems like every word you say can be heard by everyone. If you have more than 4 in you party, part of the group has to sit in the front, or back seat of the little car/table. It's difficult to talk to everyone at your table, because the front seat people have to turn uncomfortably around in thier seat to see the back. As you have heard, the food is very, very average.

Have heard that the food at Sci Fi is not the greatest but we think our kids would love the different atmosphere. Trying to decide if we should try it for lunch or dinner while at MGM. Any meals recommended? What time do they switch to the dinner menu? ::MickeyMo

I'm pretty sure that they also have picnic tables in the back of the restaurant where they sit people as well. I was paying more attention to what was going on on the screen than what was behind me. They food was good, I had the steak sandwhich and onion rings which were very tasty.

We have dinner PS for our trip in Sept. We haven't eaten here before but
we are excited to try Sci Fi. It looks really neat! We like to try a new place every trip. :cool1:

We had lunch there last week.

Very fun, my DS and DH both had burgers which were huge....

I had the chicken Cesear salad, which was pretty good, but the Milkshakes were the best part of the menu. You have to have one.

I agree with previous posters, go for lunch, and enjoy the experience. We had a 130pm PS, and wanted to make it earlier , and they said we could but we would have to sit at a picnic table, so we waited so my DS could sit in the car. Be sure to make a PS or you will be seated at a picnic table in the back rather then a car.

We were there for my birthday lunch last month. It was okay, I had the turkey sandwich (stale bread though). The whole concept was very fun. We loved the movies trailers and the old snack/concession stand snipets (the dancing hot dogs). Great fun. The server made me stand on the car seat and everyone said "happy Birthday" to me. We had a blast. It's a must do for us in the future!

The most wonderful thing happened to us this past week at the Sci-Fi. We had had a very long day....we were up at 2:00 am to drive to the airport and had been in the park all day. We had a 6:30 ressie at Sci-Fi for just me and my 4 year old. We arrived early and had to wait for about 15 minutes. My little one didn't want to wait and proceeded to have a small meltdown..literally. He dropped to the floor which I knew meant that it would be followed by crying and pouting. Suddenly there was a red light on the floor beside him bouncing all around. It caught his attention and he tried to follow it even trying to grab it. Now he's laughing (instant turn around) and it's going up the walls and all around the floor. An extremely nice CM had a small red laser light up at the podium and he was keeping the tired children entertained with this light. It was really a lifesaver! About 20 minutes into our meal, suddenly the light reappeared on our table!! I turned and he was behind us. He had found us in the restaurant and told my son he had found a way for him to capture the light and take it home with him. He then proceeded to ask my son to open his hand and he placed a red glowing ice cube in his hand. He told him now you can keep it and take it home. It was such a precious moment and my son was completely happy now!! If anyone sees Chris at the Sci-Fi tell him we think he's wonderful!!

My family have seen many magical moments at the Sci-Fi! This it's why its our favorite place to eat at WDW!
I ALWAYS found the service "Above & Beyond"! :earsboy:

:) You all have me very psyched with my decision to eat here our last day on our upcoming trip. I made my PS exactly 90 days out; even though I requested a high chair she said she got us a car that will seat 6....so I guess you can have a high chair and sit in a car too. We're on the dining plan and I'm looking forward to a shake, some onion rings and a burger or chicken sand! And I want to try the spinach dip too---sounds great! :Pinkbounc

We went while there in June and had 6 children with us. Two CM's got out the red lights and had 5 of the 6 running around trying to step on the light. It kept them occupied while we waited and when they stopped and the kids started to get restless they started doing it again.
