Since watching the food tv disney special we would like to try these restaurants, but only have time for one this trip. Which would you choose with 2 DD ages 4 and 8 me and the hubby; the drive in or prime time? It would probably be for a late lunch as we usually grab snack things for dinner while waiting for Fantasmic.

thanks you!!

We like the atmosphere of the Sci Fi, but the food isn't that great. We like to go here for a mid-afternoon break for fries & a malt!

The Prime Time has much better food! If I were you, I'd go here for lunch, then hit Sci Fi for dessert later in the afternoon!

I would hit Sci-Fi for a late lunch. They are usually very good for either lunch or Dinner.

I have never found there food to be under par for what we order. Don't think that you have to stick with the Burger's and Fries, like most people say.

There sandwiches for lunch are very good. Sci-fi probably has the best restaurant atmosphere in wdw. You really can't beat Sci-Fi with any other MGM restaurant.

I wanted to take my children to both places but not for dinner. I made lunch ressies and had been told that is just fine to order something small like ice cream or fries. We want to try these places out more for the atmosphere than for the food.

Prime Time Cafe has very good food. Sci-Fi's food is just... okay! Both offer fun entertainment!

Well at Sci Fi you sit at car like table, the light is a little low so its hard to read the menu. Also, they sit like two in front and two in back and you may have another couple sitting with you. The shakes aree good, but we have never had a great meal there. We do like the atmosphere there, but we have a hard time eating anything but the hamburgers.

At the Prime time you sit at a table in a kitchen room, the idea is this is mom and dad's kitchen and you are cousins visiting. Some times the waiter are really good at playing this up, and some times not. The food is better here than at the Sci Fi.

The Sci Fi is a bit on the dark side with bits of movies and commercial ads from years ago on the movie screen. You sit in cars of six or four. And it is two by two. They do have round tables way in the back. You may be able to ask for one of those.

The Prime Time shows bits of the 50's and 60's on small tv's. You may or may not be seated at a table with a tv. The waiters and waitress do a pretty good job of playing their parts especially if you ham it up with them. The food is pretty good.

Hope this helped a little bit.

thanks...we are looking for a burger type meal for that time/day so I think I will go with the Sci-fi...I think the kids will get a kick out of eating in a car!!!!

If you were just asking for yourself, my vote would have been for the Prime Time....if you're any where near being a baby boomer you'd really get a charge out of the memorabilia and set-up and as previously mentioned you can "play up" the participation for fun....but given the ages of your DD's, I think they'd have more fun at the Sci-Fi Drive In....My neices and nephews in that age group LOVED the concept of eating their meal in a car!

You wouldn't lose with EITHER choice - you would love both....but for a young child, the Sci-Fi would probably fit the bill the best!

I would say Sci-Fi considering the ages of your kids. We went to Prime Time with our kids almost the exact same age and the whole atmosphere thing kind of went over their head. You have to be 35-plus to really appreciate what they do there....the set-up. And the food was not all that great.
BUT...Sci-Fi food aint' much better! What it is best at is burgers, fries and a malt. Stick to that and you'll enjoy it!

I don't think there's an age target at Prime Time. You just need to have a sense of humor for it. The 50's atmosphere is just an addition no matter what age. The humor is a little more adult oriented but that all depends on your server too:p I think it's a fun experience for the kids, ours seemed to enjoy it.

Sci Fi is a unique experience but it's a little tougher to interact with those in your party because the tables all face the same direction to watch the movies. Just depends on the type of meal you're looking for. It probably is more relaxing and a good escape from the park chaos.

I would go to Prime Time if it were my choice but then if you could do both they're very different experiences.
