Just wondering about seating at Sci-Fi. I have been reading that we could sit in a car. We are party of 4 (2 children under 5)- do we sit facing each other or we all sit facing one direction. We will be sharing some of our meals so I thought it might be difficult.

Is it too dark that kids will get scared?

Here's a link to some photos from WDW restaurants - just scroll down a short ways to the MGM section and there are several shots of inside the Sci Fi!

As you will see some of the cars have bench seating, all in one direction, and others have table type settings.

Enjoy!

you do sit all facing the same way, but it is a lot of fun. Also the only way to guarantee a car booth is to get priority seating as I was told by a disney employee on our last visit. There is other seating where you all sit at a picnic set up where you can face each other, but my kids 5 and 2 get a kick out of the cars.

We party of 18 sat in cars, 6 people per car. The kids really loved this!! My son sat with his cousin in front of me. I could not get his attention the whole time, because he was glued to the old movie monsters. It is dark, but the are little lights posted next to each car. There were some cars with tables, but then you are not facing the screen. Also, if you do decide to go, get the drink with the light up ice cube. These were a big hit with the five youngest kids in our party(ages 6-10.)

It won't be difficult to share a meal, even "over the back seat", so to speak. You can easily get out of the car if you need to, but otherwise just ask for two plates and separate the food in your booth, then hand it over to your child. It's a really fun place!!!! There are a few "scary" movie trailers (only scary if you are very small - very fun and campy otherwise!!) but they are separated by Tom and Jerry cartoons, old snack bar ads, "kitchen of the future" demonstrations, etc. We always go for lunch on our MGM day - we love it!!

The "dark" probably won't scare your kids, but some of the cheesy trailers from 1950s monster movies might, if your kids are impressionable.

Nothing scares my 5 year old, so he was okay.

In addition to the really cool cars where the seats all face forward, there are other cars that are more like picnic tables, where you do sit facing each other. You could ask for one of them if you prefer. We shared food a bit, mostly an incredible milkshake, and it wasn't too hard, since the 2nd row table is really close behind the first. Our daughter wasn't scared by the SciFi -- she thought is was hilarious!

We always put our little ones in the car seat in front of us and they were fine. We actually enjoyed our meal since they watched the clips and enjoyed sitting in front of the car!

If sitting facing all the same way isn't what you're looking for, there are some tables in the back of the restaurant you could sit at. Just let them know.

Here's just two quick pictures for you:
