Ok, so we are trying out new restaurants this time around at MGM. We have been to 50's prime time twice (loved it) and Mama Melrose once (it was ok) so we are thinking of trying the Sci Fi this time. I think more for the atmosphere than the food. Plus our kids have been dying to go there (13 &11)

any opinions or advice??

Thanks in advance.

love it. you might hear complaints about the service and/or food, but i personally have had problems with neither. some also don't like being seated with other parties (as cars can hold 6 or more people). but for theming and atmosphere, this is second to none in my book.

We are also thinking of (finally) trying it out this trip. I think that my DS5 will think it is neat - he LOVES space/science fiction. The only thing that kept us from going thus far has been the reviews of the food.

For those who have been:

lunch or dinner?
much of a difference?

I would highly recomend it (even though a lot of people would not). We were there in January and I thought the service and food were great. Dh and I got Burgers and Fries and they were great. I can't remember what the kids had but there were no complaints. The best thing for them was the lighted ice cube in there drinks. They still have those and use them at home!! The shakes were good also.

Try it and see.....you might be pleasantly surprised

We love the Sci~fi! We normally go every trip and the last time we went to 50's and all the kids were soo upset:( We will for sure be back at Sci~fi this September. I love the onion rings and milk shakes...yum!

Been there 4 times and it is loads of fun. Food is good and milkshakes are to die for. If you remember the drive-ins it brings back great memories. The "movies" are really funny...:rotfl:

Hi there!

Sci-Fi is definitely a great place to enjoy a lunch just for the ambience!! It's a cool setting with edible food. I got something barbeque last time...I think it was chicken...i don't remember! lol. Anyways, it's a restaurant that you guys much experience once, lunch or dinner!

Enjoy!

Foobs :cool1:

We've been twice, and I just scheduled another for June yesterday. The whole family loves it.

As for the food, keep it simple. Don't try to make Sci-Fi something it isn't. Just like I never order steak at a fish camp, I don't order some fancy dish at Sci-Fi. The burgers are great, you can get a baked potato with it, and the shakes rule.

Here's a link for the menus:

They have great shakes and burgers! Onion rings are pretty good too. If you stick with the basics, you'll be fine! :thumbsup2

HI
Sorry to hijack this with a question, but to all those who have been what are the seats like at sc- fi, how roomy ??????

my dad is a bit on the larger size and im worried hell not fit, and i dont want him to be upset so i need to know

thanks x

We regularly visit the Sci-Fi and like the burgers, shakes & onion rings. The food is mediocre, but the atmosphere is great. On our last trip however I tried the chicken sandwich and it was very undercooked. It was tough to tell by looking at it because of the low lighting. Other than that, it's always been fine. :)

we LOVE the sci fi!!! we eat there almost every trip....the food isnt all that bad...the atmosphere is great!!!

oh and the seats question -- they are very roomy!!! they also have tables that look like cars if you prefer that....

Chalk me up to one of the people who think the service stinks and the food is awful. However, my kids LOVE it and thus we go to sci-fi every trip. The atmosphere is cool. Ask for a car to sit in.

We go every year because our boys (now 13 and 10) always ask for it. We have always gone for lunch and have never been disappointed with the food. It's somewhat overpriced but that's true of just about all sit-down places. I'm sure there is someplace at WDW with better burgers but I don't know where it is.

My only problem with it is that it's too dark to read the menu!

Advice: Go for lunch. If you do go for dinner, stick with basic food, and ask for a burger if you want one. Even though it isn't on the menu I've never read of anyone being refused.

The best lunch of our trip!! I agree, stick with lunch and the burgers and fries and you will love it! The atmosphere is the best! A must do at Walt Disney World!

We really enjoy Sci-fi. Our service has always been exceptional. One trip my Dh ordered the ribs and didn't like them. Not because they were badly prepared but because they are cooked "St. Louis style" meaning they are cooked with a coca-cola based sauce and he didn't like that. We sent the meal back and he ordered some thing else. We had every intention of paying for the ribs but our server would not charge us for them and we told her it was definitely our fault. We really appreciated that bit of magic.
We love the atmosphere, like the above poster we generally stick with the basics and never had a complaint. Best shakes on site.

We go every time we vacation at disney (daughter ages 17 and 20), and we love the atmosphere. We usually get burgers, turkey club, and onion rings; and we have never been disappointed in the food.

We try to go every trip and we really enjoy it. The movie clips are fun and the food is decent. Love the burgers and onion rings.

I HIGHLY recommend that you make an adr if you want to go as every time we are there they turn people away - many times saying that they do not have ANY openings for the rest of the day!

Jill...who will be eating there one week from tomorrow! :thumbsup2
