Sci-Fi Dine In

I have to agree with all the posts that say the atmosphere is fun but just so-so. The prices are kind of high for the food you get.

I think it's a must, especially for families. Food is better than I expected, portions are big, so two people could easily split the reuben (very good order). They mostly show trailers for old sci-fi films, and the place is not very dark and the audio is quite soft. It's mostly a question of ambience, which is amazing.

I don't remember much about the food, but I do remember that it was a really neat restaurant. :thumbsup2

The only thing we didn't care for, was the fact that you can't really talk to each other, since the movies are loud, and the people in front have their backs to the people in the back.

Most seem to say it's great for lunch. We have dinner reservations, how did anyone find dinner? I noticed there is no burger on the dinner menu.

I love going there for lunch. The atmosphere is outstanding and it gives me ideas for bad looking sci fi movies to get from Netflix! As for the food, it's decent and the prices aren't too bad as far as Disney is concerned. Always get a milkshake, always!

Is this worth it?

We thought we might make this as a quick lunch for MGM day and just get some hamburgers.

How is the food?

Are the cars clean?

Just curious...:)

My DH and I went there in July and we would not go back again. The cars are clean, and the atmosphere is cool, but we thought the food was disappointing! it was just ok, nothing special. I would reccomend 50's Prime time. But that was just our thoughts and experiences! Hope this helps!

We love this place! Some of the movie clips might frighten little kids. I remember a couple of clips that feature space monsters, but of course to big kids and adults, they're campy and cheesy. I probably wouldn't expect a child under 6/7 to not be a little frightened. (Sorry to make a blanket statement!)

And don't forget the adult milkshakes. Milky Way....here I come! (although the 'glowtini' sounds interesting.) Hmmmm.

Of course it's always hard deciding if something at Disney will scare a child. I can tell you this -- I'm taking my 5-year-old daughter there in a couple of weeks. I'm not worried. I've eaten at Sci-Fi before and I just don't think the clips will frighten her. I think they're pretty tame compared to what we see on modern-day prime time.

But if you're worried, it's always best to err on the side of caution. Hate for any kid to lose some of the wonder because they got scared!
