Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Seating for 3

We are a family of three. Will the Sci-Fi Dine-In be fun since I'll probably be sitting by self and my DH/DS will share a row. Any pictures of the seating? Can we all sit together (maybe until our food gets there)? How long should I schedule for lunch?

The cars have bench seats--usually 3 rows to a car. When we travelled with dd, she sat in the front seat and DH & I sat behind her. She turned her legs sideways and chatted with us while we waited for our food. It wasn't a problem for us at all.

You can also check about sitting at one of the picnic tables but the cars are so fun that dd really wanted to sit in one.

I'm not sure how long it takes for a meal. Since it's so dark in there, I tend to lose track of time. I'd say an hour--maybe an hour and a half at most depending on how busy it is and how soon you get seated.

How old is your son? If he's young, perhaps you could all fit in one row. We are a family of 5 and when we went, my 3 girls sat in front while DH and I sat behind them. Worked fine. However, if you don't think you can fit and you don't want to sit alone behind your DH and son, ask for an umbrella table at the back of the restaurant. This is a really, really awesomely themed restaurant and I don't think you'll miss out if you sit at the umbrella table!

I believe all the seats are cars. Ask for the front seat when you check in.

There are a few tables in the back that are non-car.

I think if OP's son is small, they can fit 3 to a row.

As for how long it takes... Maybe it was just us that had bad service last week, but it took 45 minutes from ordering two burgers until they came.

In theory, you should be in and out in just under an hour, the same length of time as the film loop. We have rarely gotten in and out before we are seeing a repeat.

The bench seats are fairly roomy and if the child is small enough, 3 can sit in a row. However, they usually seat parties of 4 in the first two bench seats and smaller parties are seated as "hitchhikers" in the back row. As a party of 2, on many meals here, we have never sat anywhere but in the very back row. As a party of 4, we have always been seated in the first 2 rows. So I would not tell them that you can fit into one bench seat because they might put you at the back of a car. Tell them you need 2 benches for the 3 of you and you'll probably get the front two seats.

We were just there the first week in February and we were there an hour and a half. Even I started to get a bit twitchy from sitting too long.

We are a party of 3 (myself, my mother, and DS10)...I sat in the front row by myself and turned sideways to talk to them...I am overweight and there was NO WAY I was trying to squeeze all 3 of us into one row!

The service took FOREVER! I actually had to stop a manager who was walking by to ask about our food. She asked the waitress right in front of us if she had forgotten about yes. She answered an honest yes.

By the time we got seated (waited about 30 mins even though we had an ADR), ordered, got our food and got out of there, it had been 2 hours!!!

This was the most disappointing dining experience we have ever had at any restaurant in WDW and we have been traveling there since 1986.

I recommend steering clear of the SciFi. We prefer the PrimeTime Cafe.

We sat in a 4 seater car (two rows of seats) with three of us. Two in the back and one in the front, but we could still talk, but they do have cars with two rows of seating.

My son is 4, so I'm thinking that we can all sit together until the food arrives. We made the reservation "just in case" we are over counter service.
