Schwan's Home Food Service - Anyone use them?

I guess I'm the only one, but I didn't really care for Schwans. I mean the food was ok, but I kept thinking to myself...it's just frozen food. I mean really, I could find most of the same things at the grocery store. I found them expensive and the delivery guy was nice but just a little pushy. I ended up feeling sorry for him most days and ordering stuff I didn't need.
I agree. While the food was tasty, it was nothing I couldn't have cooked myself.

We used to use them. When they added the fuel surcharge it was the end. Prices kept going up and the packaging kept getting cheaper. Imagine, they lost our business over a $1.00 per delivery fuel charge. I equated it to paying admission to enter a grocery store:confused3 .

We use 'em. The food is good. Rarely do we come across something we don't like. :)

We use them too!

My delivery guy is awesome, not pushy at all....which I like, if he was, he'd be gone!

My family loves the ice creams, my DD's favorites are the rainbow push ups! I love the Strawberry Supreme Frozen Yogurt! :thumbsup2

The only thing I bought that I wasn't happy with was the sirloin steaks, just something about the taste I didn't like!

They are pricey, but convenience is a good thing!

We get the Bagel Dogs from then and the Chicken Fries. Other than that I occasionally splurge and buy something else. They are expensive but I haven't found those two items anywhere else. Our driver is not pushy and he comes by every two weeks but I do tell him sometimes to skip me if I know I will not be here during his delivery time.

We have used them for 20 years. I LOVE their frozen veges. They can't be beat, especially the asparagus. Their chicken breasts are very good as well. We of course get their ice cream and other goodies. Schwan's is a good old US success story-started out as a mom and pop dairy/ice cream store and has grown into a multi-BILLION dollar company that is still family owned. I do have to say that their home service has gone downhill some in the past few years though.

Had them up north. One driver was great, the other wasn't. We hadn't been getting them too long before the driver switch-we probably would have stuck with them if he'd been more consistent.

Everything we got from them was great. I am very picky about meat quality. I never could find anything to complain about with what I purchased. The whole family loved their ice cream, too.

I've seen trucks around here, but haven't had a driver stop in our neighborhood yet.

You can order online and Schwan's will deliver. It's a great way to meet your delivery guy.
I'm thinking of starting their service again. The food was good. It's a little pricey but I usually go to WalMart for groceries. That can get expensive because I don't always stick to my list.:rotfl:

At my friends' place in Texas, the Schwan man had a huge Mickey-tattoo on his arm.

That's reason enough to order from him :teeth:

I love the Schwan man. I love the hot chocolate ice cream cups, cheesy bread, rolls, and use to love the cheesy broccoli and rice kit until I got food poisoning from it. My Schwan's driver was very good to me when I told him it got me sick the next time, he refunded my money and so I bought more ice cream!!!!

Ok - I set up service by calling the 1-800 number. The driver then called to set up service and he said he'd stop by every Monday between 6-9pm. Guess they work late for the working folks. Anyway, he was supposed to stop this past Monday and I was home from about 5:30 on. He never showed. We're starting off on a bad foot...

I love Schwann's and my Schwann's man. While it is expensive it is cheaper than eating out and we get to stay home. We own our own business and along with all the other things in life - getting to the grocery store is a task. We love their mashed potatoes, cheesy quick taters, sweet corn and pizzas best. I always place my order on line and my driver rarely tries to sell me anything else.

Question - can I just set up service so that they come out only when I order online? I asked this question to the customer service rep and she said no, but I believe I read that some of you are doing this.

Love the ice cream. We also buy the hashbrowns, potstickers, herb biscuits (a lot like Red Lobster), I didn't really care for the pizzas, but I only tried them once. The frozen fruits are great in a smoothie too.
