School's Closing Early? Let's Do Disney in December! 12-10

We always go to MVMCP. This will be the first year of us paying the premium for the tickets but we feel its still worth it. We won't be around when they do the parade and fireworks when the parties end so we don't have much of a choice.

The tree lighting is great because with it being at 6, you are able to get castle pics before a party would start at 7!

Charles is the same way -- he doesn't like to look at pictures or even watch movie trailers because he always wants the experience to be completely new. :goodvibes

Mickey lighting the tree at Epcot sounds fun!!!

In most other cases, I like to know what to expect. Decorations should be a surprise though! I try not to read the back of books either--Charles is probably adverse to that too, based on the other info... :)

Not sure my crew would appreciate MVMCP right now. They are 10 and 12, and the 12 y/o being an obnoxious pre-teen, I don't think I am ready for the eye rolling while there, lol. Ok, gonna go work on my PTR!

Okay, my nine year olds sometimes act like 12...does it matter where you are with the 12 year old? I imagine the eye rolling will occur everywhere. :rotfl2:

Ok, first PTR is up, lol. Can't wait to hear what you have planned!

Need the link so I can follow along :yay: Gald you decided to go for it! Can you post it here? If you want help putting it in your signature, I can help with that too.

I would think VERY differently if we were only visiting during the party dates and not after. Then, $200 would be a deal!

The tree lighting I am referring to is in EPCOT...

Are you taking about castle pics with it in lights or sans lights?

Maybe you know, does Belle have on her winter dress at the meet and greets the week of Christmas?

He is -- he makes me do it and then tell him whether or not it is something he would like. :rotfl:

I love the picture of Epcot with the Christmas tree - makes it look even more special! :thumbsup2

The tree lighting ceremony sounds great. Every time you will be sharing your options I will be sat here wishing I was going in December!

We'll be at disney at the same time...I'm going to MVMCP! Super excited about it too....I think I paid 130 something for our tickets (just two) I just think it'll be something fun to try. We're going to try to drink/eat my moneys worth in free cocoa and cookies! :rotfl:

Where are you staying and for how long? Have you been to WDW many times?

Your first trip! Super exciting! Is your DBF a planner? Are you going to be on the dining plan? Do you know where you will eat? Okay, I will stop with the questions and just jump in and read your PTR that I noticed in your signature!!

:goodvibes

Yes my first trip! :cool1: Been literally dreaming of this my whole life! :rotfl: DBF is a planner, but not of this trip! It's all mine! He is too busy with college anyway to worry about this trip so he's letting me do whatever I want and plan whatever I want! :cloud9: Of course I ask him things (sometimes) but he usually just says "whatever you want". I have all of our ADR's made already...they're in my PTR somewhere. :santa: It getting so close! YAY!

I joined on your PTR. I LOVE your enthusiam for Disney! I am so excited for your first trip!

Okay, so I need to do some dining reservations. We are going to go with the quick serve dining for the first night at Music, and then, we will have the regular service plan for the rest of our stay at BCV.

I decided to go the dining plan route because it is only $11 a day for our girls. In the summer, they will be 10 and we would have to pay adult prices for them!

In order to make my reservations, I have to figure out which park on which day...

Arrival too late for a park(EPCOT is open until 12:30, but we are staying at Music...) info here for others:

You're not going to do the free dining?? I was practically doing cartwheels around my living room when I called and added free dining! :yay: I drove everyone crazy with my obsessive park planner around my ADR's but now that we have park hopper I need to go back and tweak all of it! (good thing I love it) :goodvibes

Looking forward to seeing where you end up making your reservations.

 at the 9 out of 10! Wise choice leaving before the madness erupts!

The park hopper certainly changes things! We don't get free dining because we are DVC members staying on points at BCV. I don't have to pay the holiday surcharge though. I used my annual pass discount for ASM, which is cheaper than getting free dining for the night. (I think...maybe I better check on that.)

Looking forward to seeing where you end up making your reservations.

My friend is staying that extra day...we are getting out of Dodge!!!

I looked into free dining...we aren't buying a package or staying at Music for enough nights...

Getting back to the exciting events over the holiday season:

Epcot also offers the storytellers around the world showcase...

(Photo by Don Sullivan posted on Dad's guide to wdw)

I am excited about this. I think walking around listening to stories from various "Santas" sounds awesome. However, it is highly unlike that this would be extremely exciting to my nine year olds... Apparently, some of the storytellers are intentionally funny.

I asked dh if he would be interested; he gave me an interesting look, and said, I'll listen to one. :rotfl: I might be spending an evening in Epcot alone.

Epcot offers a "Festival Guide" but be sure to pick up a Times Guide too. However, in order to see what time the performances take place, check out the Entertainment signs located at each pavillion.

Also, Epcot offers the Candlelight Processional. This is billed as a not to miss event with the option of a dinner package.

(found on google images)

I have read that it isn't necessary to get a package, especially if you go to the 5:15 show. Apparently, the atmosphere is not as desirable early in the evening.
