can anyone tell me where to get this and is it always there?? thanks! i am looking forward to trying it!

Epcot, Norway, there is a bakery right next to the large wooden ship. It is a large bread/roll that is stuffed with a wonderful not too sweet custard and covered with icing and fresh coconut (not toasted)

IT IS AWESOME!

OMG! That sounds so good!! I will most certainly be putting schoolbread on my list of things to eat.

I can't wait to try this when we head down this time. I have admired it through the case each time we go there. My DKs usually get a chocolate chip cookie and I always jsut drool at the case. This time, I am getting one. I think we will need to split it though since it is quite large. I will report back and take a pic!!

It was on our list to try Spring 2007. We purchased several of the bakery items to share. They were all excellent.

Just got back from our latest trip. After reading so many wonderful reviews on the board about the school bread I made it a point to stop and get one. How shocked I was to be so disappointed. First of all it is kinda hard, not a soft pastry at all. Not only that it was very cold, almost frozen. I was expecting a soft, doughnut, doughy delight. None of the 5 of us liked it, and that was even more surprising! I think if it had been warmed a little it would have been better.
Sorry, but that was my experience.:confused3

Ugh... you must have gotten it at the wrong time? Maybe it was sitting in the refrigerator or something? Very strange. Every time I've had it, it's been a soft, doughnut, doughy delight.

I had read many great reviews on this, so I tried it when we were there in June. I LOVED IT!! I got it for a snack one day. I loved it so much that I got it again another day! It was acutally my dinner for the evening! (we had eaten a 2:30 lunch at Le Cellier, so I was getting a little hungry around 8:30pm. ) It will become a must eat every trip from now on!

This treat is a fav of ours and we got one late this past Feb, it was almost 9 pm and they did not have any in the case but the CM said there were some in the back...it was ice cold and the cream was almost frozen...but it was still yummy! Any other time I have ordered it they were soft and creamy

We tried it for the first time in June after reading so many good review here and we loved it. We ordered some other type of pastry also and no one really liked that one compared to the schoolbread. We discovered that little spot in Norway during our December trip and we just had to have a snack there again in June. It is a nice way to take a little break.

We had to try some after hearing about it for so long and 4 of us were not impressed. It was really dry.

This is one of my fave snacks. I tried it a few trips back on the advice of the boards, and it did not dissapoint. Now we get one every trip. MMMMM, schoolbread.

Sounds like yours hadn't thawed. That stinks.

They are great...when they are really fresh. I love Schoolbread and the pastries in France, but I've had rare instances where they were sorta dried out and not great.

Wonderful when fresh, though! :goodvibes
