School Pizza

My DD hates her school pizza. They used to have Pizza Hut once per month and she loved that but she won't touch the school's pizza. It's a PITB since the school offers very few vegetarian options and now that she is in middle school there seem to be even fewer!

The veggie option is a big problem in a lot of Schools. Looking at our High School menu for next week all of the "entrees" include meat, except for one day when they offer a veggie grinder.

I guess a vegetarian child is expected to bring their own lunch. Even on pasta dishes the sauce is a meat-based sauce.

The way the schools have been changing their views on "nutrition" (our schools got ride of soda machines, etc.), I'm surprised they have not expanded their veggie selections.

Both of my kids hate the school pizza. They will eat Little Ceasar's pizza the last Wednesday of the month when the school has it.

The pizza served at my high school back in the 70's was frightening!!!

I think I have emotional scars from that "pizza"...it was a rectangle of yellow-ish cheesy grease...sprinkled with some sort of manufactured "meat" product...you'd have to set your pizza on a stack of napkins to absorb the grease before eating it. You could use that pizza to lube the rollers on the giant transporter they move the space shuttle on.

My kids say that the pizza at their school is bad. When I was in school, the pizza tasted like they put tomato soup on a crust, sprinkled on a little cheese and then soaked the whole thing in water - very soggy crust.
