Is your school really strict about your school I.D's?

At my school for the first 2 months all the teachers are. My teacher from last year wouldn't let kids take a test without an ID even if he knew they went to the school.

i use my id to pay for my food, send mail, use the library, get on the internet (okay not really, but it has the name i sign in with on it.) and get my parking pass.

some professors can use their id to unlock their classrooms.

At my school I have to wear my ID at ALL TIMES now because it says "Yearbook staff" on it, so if any kids have questions, they'll know they can ask me (yearbook related, of course) and it gets me into the games for free, plus it's a hall pass, so I have got to wear mine. But if I wasn't on the YB staff then nope, I wouldn't wear it, I'd probably lose it.

No, they're pretty much useless. The only time I'd really need it was if I wanted a discount at a store that offers a school discount. I mean yeah, the admin can ask for me to show ID at any time, but they don't. I think we're supposed to have it to take books out of the library too, but I don't think the librarians care.
And TBH, I don't know where mine is. We don't get new ones till about ... mid-October?

I'm not sure if we have them at the high school, but at the junior high, they were pretty much useless. We didn't need them for anything.

HS they took the picture, you got the id and then you never needed it. I honestly don't know what their purpose was other than having our student number on it was for state testing.

College, it gets us into our dorms, dining halls, laundry, it can be a debit card basically. There's probably more you can do with it I just don't know yet.

In HS they tried to get us to wear it, but no one ever did. Every now and then teachers or principles would yell at us to wear them, so I always had mine with me. I do know you needed it to even get into the library and a principal would always sit in one of the lunch rooms and wouldn't let you out unless you had your ID (that was during lunch though. once lunch was over you were free to go).

In college I have my meal points on it, it gets me discounts at some stores, it can hold money (like a debit card) to use for laundry and some vending machines, lets me check stuff out of the library and most importantly we have to swipe it to get into the hallway in our dorm. It's pretty important.

We don't have them..
The only remotely close thing we have is we got a little card that we used to buy lunch with when we started high school - but that was 5 years ago so mine's long lost xD and I wouldn't need it anyway as I bring my own lunch

Yes. I have to have it for getting on the internet, printing out papers, buying things from the bookstore, buying any of the food on campus, getting into any functions or parties going on, getting in (free) to any of the plays/productions the thatre department puts on, getting any discounts at stores around my town, getting into the museum for free, parking in the student parking, and getting any information about my student account (tuition balance, scholarship information, etc). I could also use it as a debit card to buy any of the food on campus, but I don't eat there enough for that. Basically I can't talk to the administration about anything concerning myself without that ID card.

They made them even more important this semester when they changed what the IDs looked like.

like previous posters have said, because I'm in college my ID goes everywhere with me.

It's what gets me into the dining halls, my residence hall, it acts as a debit card to buy items with, it works on the vending machines and it's the only thing you can use to pay to do your laundry. To get a book out of the library or somesuch as well, it's what I need to use. It's very important.

Yes.
We have to wear our school I.D's or else we could be denied access from getting into the classroom or get a detention or get sent to I.S for the whole day.

Nope, we don't need them. I think my high school, of three grades, is around 1200 kids, too. At the vo-tech we got our ID badges today. We use them for lunch and when we got our clinicals. I promptly lost mine within an hour, after lunch. :( I have to see if it's in the lost and found or the guidance office on Tuesday, otherwise it's gone.

The administration at my school is making your student ID more important. We have money on it for lunch that we scan and you need it to get into the library during study hall or lunch and check books out. Now we have to have it so we can swipe into the machines when we are tardy and get a pass to go to class. Stupidest thing ever.
Oh and it gets us into games for free if you have the activities pass.

We have to wear it on our collar or a lanyard or else we get a detention from ID checks.

It's so stupid. I highly doubt someone would dress up in our uniform just to sneak in.

I don't get why they won't let us wear it on the bottom of our polo's or on our skirts or backpacks, either.

Yep, they sure are. If you don't have it on you you get a detention, and the more times you don't have it, you get a Saturday school.

you use yours at the book store? we don't have to have ours/our id number. i guess cause parents and stuff will go buy things there. anyone can shop at our book store. :confused3

Yes. The only reason I can think of is because when we go to buy the actual textbooks, they swipe our card and look at our schedule to show us what books to buy. Like for freshman english I (for example) there are about 10 different books or combinations of books that we might need, depending on the section we're in and instructor we have.

Also, if you spend $100 you get a $5 credit or a free t-shirt. So, our ID is kind of necassary to easily keep track of our purchases.

You could probably go in there and buy things without an ID, but it's just easier for the students to do it this way. :)
