Just had some excellent news about next years holiday dates.

It seems that for Easter 2005 the children will only be off on Good Friday & Easter Monday and then straight back to school with the 2 week end of term holiday starting 2 weeks later (11th April 2005).

So for next years trip we can have the best of the weather but not have to endure the Easter crowds and possibly even benefit from cheaper flights without taking the children out of school.

I beleive this is the case for most ESSEX schools, but I'm not sure about other areas, it would be interesting to find out if they are doing the same.

If other areas are planning to do the same, my advice would be be to book up as soon as possible if you were planning a package holiday before the holiday companies catch on.

Hi

I live on the West Coast of Scotland and our school holidays are:
off for Easter weekend then they are off again for their 2 week break, close 1st April 2005 and re-open on 18th April 2005

I'm on the southwest coast of Scotland and our Easter holidays 2005 are the same as always - 2 weeks over Easter.

We close on Thursday March 24th, with Good Friday being the day after, and reopen on Mon April 11th. Makes that last term a LONG one!

I work in a school & haven't heard about this one, & we're usually clued up when the holidays are!!!!

So i don't think it applies to us in here in Yorkshire.

hi

i have been looking in the local goverment web sites at the term times and
most of them seem to be taking the holiday around the easter weekend and
returning on the 11th

Hi Everyone:wave:

We got our school holiday dates for 2005 a couple of months agoand the schools here (Milton Keynes)close on the 24 March-11 April 2005.

So we are flying out on the 27 March for two weeks with virgin as there price for that day was a lot cheaper than the previous week:teeth: :teeth: and DS won't miss any school.l don't think the holiday companys have caught onto this yet:yo-yo: :yo-yo:

hi tabbycat

i think you are right we are looking also at booking with virgin and travelling on the 2 april, as my sons school also has 2 teacher training days tagged on the end and he will also only be in year one
have you actually booked it yet as we are going to book ours today and have found a copany which offer a discount on the virgin hols

Hi BevBev

Yes we booked the flights in January and have booked a villa separately.

Hope you get the holiday you want and happy planning:) :)

Yes, us too. Our DSs' school finished on 1st April for 2 weeks, after having Easter as a long weekend break.
So we're off to WDW! - crowds should be lighter by then??

It seems the Hols next year will be more staggered over Easter than in previous years. Hopefully this will mean less crowds and lower prices for all of us.

There is a similar thread on the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies (2004-205 school calender) which indicates the situation is similar in the U.S..

Already time to start planning for 2005:hyper:
