School Dances

Well im in 7th grade, and thats when you get to go to dances. I went to my first dance last friday. I had SO much fun.


I saw SOO many people grinding. Im not quite sure how i feel about that... What do you guys think?

Get used to the grinding and the innappropriate dancing.
It gets worse in high school, so either you can dance with you friends alone, or you can join the crowd (it's literally a crowd of like 400 people smushed together xD).
It's not going away.

I was a chaperone for my little sister's 7th & 8th grade dance.
There were like 17 year olds there dancing like they were in a club. It was odd!
Gosh, it's just a catholic school dance.

haha, you will see that more and more as you get into highschool... it is kinda dirty, but you get used to it.. at my prom, there were like 1100 kids crammed into 1 dance floor... so i kinda ended up dancing with strangers haha.. it was awesome.. but if you know how to dance really well, there would be like a dance circle on the outside of the giant crowd where people would show off their moves... going to a highschool dance is basically going clubbing, but in much more formal clothing

i agree that it gets worse in high school. For homecoming it gets 10 times worse. Its funny to see the middle schoolers dance no offense its just cute lol

still amazes me how girls still manage to dance like that in expensive, tight fitting silk dresses xD

For me dances is just plain fun and I have been dancing since a very young age, but I am not very comfortable out on the floor grinding. I do however like a good slow dance with a guy where I am being held tight.

I love school dances. My school's first dance is next week but a couple of weeks ago I went to another school's mixer. It was fun.

As everyone else said about the grinding: get used to it. You'll see sluttier dances as you get older.

When I was in junior high you couldn't get close to a guy and when you slow danced it was so awkward because like the guy could barely touch you. Now we make fun of it and it's so fun.

I just don't get into it(the grinding that much). I have studied Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, and even Hip-Hop and I don't remember ever being taught grinding. It is just something to rub your parts against one another, that isn't dancing to me.

in 6 and 7 i worked the concession stand cuz dancess were dumb

last year i went with friends (diferent school) (every other song was a slow one and no one grinds) and ended up dancing with tyler (it was realy embaressing at first) who i than asked out arter the night was over i think i menssioned her last year

but we only have formal this year
nothing in october, december, or febuary

i was cause i was part of the relay for life club
they were the ones who ran it for th 8+ dances(6 and 7 were seporite from 8)

Ya, I think you just have to ask the teachers or something, but you can volunteer!

I don't like it. That's one of the reasons I am not going to homescoming because everyone I know going,dances like that.

I remember my two best friends last year were having a party and were trying to teach me how to dance like that and I felt so uncomfortable. Eventually at their party whenever people's butt's would come near me I would move to the other side of the dancefloor. XD
