Okay so we had our back to school dance the other night. I took pictures for yearbook. Some people did not like the fact that I was taking pictures and they came up to my sis and I saying DON'T TAKE PICTURES NOTHING IS HAPPENING! My sister is like it is our job to take pictures for the yearbook staff. Also do you think it is appropriate to have girl on girl dancing and boy on boy dancing at a high school dance??? Also the music bugs me it is not like the old dances.. It is all rap and R&B music they play so we only got one slow song pictures taken.... I do not know what the world has turned into..

Well if they stop being wallflowers, something would be happening.

I danced a lot with girls all through school--even do so at wedding receptions. It means nothing and is fun. Not sure if you are talking about same-sex couples or not. But as long as they are adhering to the schools code of conduct, it doesn't really matter then. If it is that bumping and grinding stuff--then the chaperones need to step in. The music is approved by the school in that they are the ones who hire the dj and permit the songs to be played (why they kept letting that one song play at my school dances, I will never know....(the moanie moanie song that I can't spell and can't remember the lyrics--but know what we said during gaps of the song....(hey everybody....blah blah blah blah).

I would imagine the only one slow song was by design. Perhaps more at a homecoming dance or prom?

I didn't like all the music they played back in the 80s/90s either at my school dances....so the world is just evolving musically and there will always be someone who doesn't like what is played. And unless the admin has actual lyric sheets...they may not notice something like Fergie's "London Bridge" and what it really represents. But that could make for an interesting English Class.

My son went to his first school dance last night and came home complaining about the music too. I raised him and his brother as rock n roll kinda kids and they aren't huge rap fans. Seems they played nothing but.

Girl on girl dancing has been around since I was a kid, I can tell you that. Don't remember boy on boy dancing, they were usually in the other corner doing something else, like shoving each other or some other such boy activity. :p Very few boy-girl couples danced together, but that changes as you get older, I think boys start becoming more comfortable dancing.

I do think its cool that you are the photographer for the yearbook! I worked on my school newspaper and yearbook and its my fondest memory of high school. :) I bet you got some good shots last night in spite of the lack of enthusiasm. :)

well yah lol :) but i think it is just weird the dances these days. I as well was raised on rock n roll and it i just odd. lol
