I am dying to try school bread, I love everything about it except the coconut. Anyone know if you can get it minus the coconut? Maybe substitute another topping? Thank you!

I don't think you can, but it can't hurt to ask. They've always been pre-made and already in the display case when I've gotten there.

Just there last week , they are all coconut, but I love coconut so I never asked. Also the almond icing sweet pretzel and many other goodies.

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me if the coconut is pretty easy to brush off? If that's the case I could do that easily enough.

I think you might be able to get it off, but you'd probably also scrape off the icing. There is a picture in another thred. Let me try to link it for you.

Here's the link. Scroll down on the first page to the second set of pictures, which is easier to see.

It is on top of the white icing , so you may loose some of the icing.

Just saw the pictures now can't wait for free dining and I was just there last week. Need some more schoolbread.

I don't get to go back for at least 3 1/2 years (unless I win the lottery), so I'm just torturing myself with these food photos.

just dig out the custard inside the "doughnut" with a spoon!

(and don't eat the coconut frosting!)

excuse the ? if it's a repeat WHERE do i get schoolbread:confused3

At the (Kringla??) Bakery in Norway at Epcot!

We tend to buy them and then have them for breakfast the next day - or half for snack and half for breakfast. But make sure you have a beverage!

I wouldn't say it was easy to brush off the coconut...

I bought my first schoolbread last year after hearing so much about it here on the DIS, took it back our hotel, and put it on ice (to keep it cool since we didn't have a fridge) for breakfast the next morning. Since it was so big, I planned to share it, but my DH does not like coconut and wouldn't eat it, so I cut it in half and my DS took his half and cut the "top" off, thus removing the coconut, and ate the bottom half, since he doesn't like coconut either but wanted to try it. So I got my half plus the "lid" of his half. :goodvibes

You might be able to shake some coconut off and pick the rest off, but there is a LOT of coconut on it and its stuck on the frosting. I'd try asking to see if you could possibly get one without the coconut, I'd imagine you wouldn't be the first person to request it!
