School bread at Norway

I forgot to add this as one of the snacks we tried. I couldn't believe the size of it. I ordered two, thinking all four of us could share them for breakfast the next morning (I love the whole fridge-in-the-room thing!).

Well, the CM takes two small plastic cartons, and shoves a school bread into each of them, cramming the lid down on them, flatening the whipped creme all along the inside of the carton! Like stuffing a jelly donut into a shot glass!

DD and I tried one back at the room, but it was just too messy to enjoy, and DH had us laughing so hard pantomining the CM just squishing the thing in the carton, I almost choked!

Can you tell me what "school bread" is? Is there any filling or just the whipped cream?

Just a little bit of pudding like stuff in the middle - we really weren't impressed at all. The bread isn't sweet or anything, just plain old bread, with a teensy tiny bit of pudding in the middle and some coconut on top. There were much better pastries there, but this one is a big fave here on the boards! Maybe because it isn't as sweet as typical pastries?

I had a delicious cloudberry tart at the Kringla Bakeri. France's pastries are great, naturally, but there are some good pastry eats in Norway.

I've never tried the school bread, so I can't comment on why people love it. I also can't explain the collective rapture over the Dole Whips--but I did have one of those...
