School Basketball Season

DS wants to try to play basketball for the Middle School next year. Does anyone have any idea when the season normally runs? Is basketball a fall or spring sport? (we're normally a baseball family)

I need to know when to watch for the sign-ups.

Thank You!!! I was afraid it was one of those ones we have to sign up over the summer & start early fall.

Our middle school season ran from early December to the second week of February. I don't know when "sign ups" were because that was only announced in school, so DS and DD took care of that themselves. We were also a very small district so I don't think anyone was cut.

Does your school have a website, it is probably on there. In our middle school the girls play basketball from October to Christmas break and the boys play January-March. In South Dakota basketball season used to be a fall sport, they have moved that, point being, it is going to be different everywhere.

Well, we have a website....but I don't think we have anyone who knows how to update it I don't think it's been updated in a year or two.


I'll keep an eye out late fall. DS usually brings forms & such home the night before the cut-off dates.

Usually they will announce things at school and send papers home for you to sign. It isn't like rec leagues where you have to go some evening and sign up, the school generally takes care of that. Our school as all the sport start dates in the school calendar. Even if your website isn't up to date it might still give you an idea when the season is.
