Scheduling site inspections?

My fiance and I are not planning on getting married in Disney until October2008 but I am trying to start planning now so that when it is time to sign a contract we can get the places we want and we have a budget in mind. Most of the places we are looking out according to Disney weddings we can sign a contract a year out. We are planning on going down this October and checking out some places. My question is is how much ahead of time should I call to arrange the site inspections bc I know that it usually takes a wedding coordinator a few weeks to get back to you once you call them? So I want to make sure I allow myself enough time to arrange but don't want to leave too much time so that they won't call me back bc it is too early. I guess I also want to make sure that the week I am looking to do, site inspections will work. I want to book my hotel for the couple of days I will be down there this October and make any neccessary dining reservations. If I have to change the dates later on, then I have to but I would like to confirm the site inspections as soon as I possibly could. I am really not sure of how that process works, so if anyone has any sugggestions they can offer up, that would be great. :confused3 Also can the contracts be signed in person?

My advice would be to call Disney and ask. They might very well tell you that they can schedule it now. When we were trying to decide on having a Disney wedding we decided on a whim that we would fly down to Florida that week and called Disney to set up an appointment for 4 days later and they were fine with it. Although we ended up calling back a day later to cancel it because DF had a meeting come up at work but I reschedule it for the day before Thanksgiving which was about a month later. They seemed very flexible about it. I am sure there are lots of people that schedule a long time in advance - hopefully someone else will come along and give you another perspective. Good luck!

I leave on Wedesday for my site visits. I made my own travel arrangements and then contacted Disney to tell them what dates I was going to be visiting. They aren't able to look at their schedules until two months out, so they just fit me into their schedule.

I actually was only going to do the site visits when we went down now and then do the planning session on our second trip in September and they decided to do a partial planning session with us on top of the visits to the sites.

My wedding is not until August of 2008, but DF and I are going to WDW this May. I got in contact with a nice man at Franks named Jack and he was able to get us an appointment for a site visit. According to Jack they can do site visits M-F at 9 a.m 11 a.m and 1 p.m. If you need the number just let me know. Good luck with all your wedding plans!

Hi there! Looks like we have the same month in mind for a wedding. DF and I are looking at October 16th of 2008 and I called two weeks ago about a site inspection. It wasn't a problem at all. Since I will be there the week of May 20th, they set up an appointment for me then. I'm really excited as, I think at that point it will seem real!

My wedding is not until January 2009 and we just signed our contract, but DF is not as familiar with the WDW Resort as I am and he still wants to do a site visit even though we can't back out now!! :thumbsup2 We are flying down August 31st to stay for a few days, and meeting up with our site coordinator at 3pm on Friday, so I'm not sure about the times you were given as options. We managed to secure the site visit like 4 months out, so it might depend upon each coordinator and their preferences. Also, it might be because we only need to see 2-3 places (Contemporary Ballroom and Wedding Pavillion and maybe Italy Isola (where we will have our dessert party)) that we are able to do it later in the afternoon.
