We visited IOA on Sunday. It was freezing but we had a great time. Lines weren't bad and we did everything in the park...twice.

We got on the blue dragon coaster. It was my first time riding and while I enjoy coasters I'm always a little anxious/nervous. Yes, I'm afraid I'll fall out but once I get going I love it! One of my sons is just 54 inches so was just able to ride.

As we were strapped in for our first ride the TM in front of us was checking the seats and apparently the harness for the girl in front of us was not working correctly. She said to the girl, "Look at that - I just saved your life!" :faint: How I stayed on and didn't jump off out of sheer terror I don't know!!

When we rode it again the TM pulled my son out of line for a measurement check. No one had measured him at all the first time through! (We had just been at the doctor's so I knew he was exactly 54 inches without shoes.) I would have totally died if they didn't let him ride due to his size!

We had a great time but it certainly tested my coaster anxieties!

The TM was just teasing. The extra seat belts really don't do much. The over the shoulder restaints are locked in and don't need the seat belt.

True, but it was the harness that wasn't all the way clicked in/not working right. They had the girl get out of the seat.

It still almost made me crap my pants! LOL

sunglasses are what falls from that ride...........
not the peeps.

If the harness was not working right they would not even be able to release the roller coaster cart. It would throw an error and not allow it to move.

That's why you see all the TM's with thumbs up on visual check. Then if the lights on the controls are blinking red they will tell the TM for a check on the problem. That's why sometimes you will notice you are sitting waiting all strapped in then all of a sudden the restraints in a few rows will unlock then try to reset. If it clears the lights turn green and TM's are thumbs up again ready to roll. If they cannot get green light cart goes no where and everyone is pulled off right there. Then mechanic comes to solve problem.

But if the harness fails in motion that's what the center seatbelt is for, so it does not open all the way, slim possiblity. :thumbsup2

Falling out of a coaster is one of my worst fears.... but for some reason I just keep riding them- go figure. (Hulk especially is scary that way)

Anyway- thanks Bluer101- I will think about that next time I ride.

And SwimBikeRun- you are one brave mama :crazy2:

I sometimes wish that Rip Ride Rockit had a seatbelt, knowing that that coaster had a lot of issues when it opened along with that unusual restraint always has me think about falling out when I ride it.There's plenty of other coasters out there that don't have seatbelts that I never give it a second thought, this one I always have to think about it.
