ALRIGHT SO. This is gonna be a smidge LONG.
Okay so, I go to my friends cottage sometimes on weekends. This cottage is attached to Lake Erie, one of the 5 great lakes. Now, I've never been sea-dooing before ( jet skiing to Americans) but uh, it looked a bit disturbing.
Anyways on Saturday, i was convinced to go on. This guy was pretty experienced and I held on like nothing youve ever seen. It was really fun but also scary cause the waves were HUGE!!! My legs flew up like 4 times.
I am PARANOID of the water. Like if I fell in, I would have a FIT. I cant take not knowing where the bottom is and if a fish ever touched me, id faint and die.
So, I never fell off on Saturday, but we stopped quick cause we saw lightning.
But today.
Whoah.
In the morning, it was calm.
But as the day progressed, it got BAD. Like good jet skiing weather, but it was choppy as heck. I said to myself, oh well, it'll be fun. So i suit up and go on.
As we are leading the seadoo out into the water, we get on and fall off at least 4 times. And when we fall, it hurts. BUT, the seadoo still remains upright.
By now, the waves are huge. I mean MASSIVE. They were like 3 feet ABOVE my head. So we figure, lets try once more.
We all 3 get on, it starts to tip. I fall, my friend falls. My friends mom, who is driving hangs on. THE ENTIRE SEADOO CAPSIZED. And seadoos are HARD to push completely over. So for about 10 FREAKING SECONDS she doesnt come up. I was screaming because i thought she was trapped. And i couldnt go near it cause waves pushed it back and smacked me off the skull.
Finally she pops up. I feel safe.
THEN.
Next to us, theres a boat. People on it with no lifejackets. I dont know the whole story, but apparantly someone was telling them to get off the boat because either they were drunk or there was an insurance problem or something.
3 guys on the boat.
One jumps off to SWIM to shore with no lifejacket on in 7 foot waves. He goes under in the current. The second guy sees he is drowning and goes in to help him. The second guy cant find him and swims to shore.
They wait for A FULL MINUTE, and they cant see the man anywhere. Then.
Oh god, I hate this part.
They see him floating. I swear to god, that image is burned in my mind for the next 80 years. Fire trucks, coast guard ( from the states, you can see the states from where we are) , hlicopter, police, the whole shebang come to get him.
My dads screaming at me to get out of the water cause 2 people died.
They didn't though. One is very close to dying ( the one underwater for 1 minute). He's in stable condition but he's in the critical section. He's on life support and I think he might end up as a vegetable.
Sorry. Had to share my horrifying experience.
PS. I was gonna post a news story, but my city is too slow to post anything.
